hi folks, just updating...
2 tablespoons in 40ml of water became too much. on my last attempt a couple of days ago I tried swallowing it neat - not recommended, nearly choked!
so am now taking 2 teaspoons in 40ml of water and it is much more palatable and I'm sure i can stick to it. I still have the spots, but the antibiotics are kicking in I think - but for the first time in years the raised swellings at the top of both thighs are reducing. this hasn't happened before, so am hopeful it might be cider vinegar...

Hi withu I hope you have success with the acv. I started off with just a teaspoonful in warm water a day and slowly built up to 2 tablespoons. I always have a sweet drink ready to wash it down with but it is doing the trick of clearing my skin and that makes it all worth while. All the best from jamagram

 Hi Jamagram, thanks for replying. I'm really starting to be amazed at what's happening - I had a really bad bout of HS a couple of weeks ago, when I joined this forum. I've been taking cider vinegar since the 28th January '05, and old blemishes from previous HS breakouts at the top of my thighs are actually disappearing! I can't believe it! I've been taking 1000mg Oxytetracycline daily pretty much regularly for the past couple of years, but those blemishes have often been raised lumps and every so often they start up with boils etc, HS stuff, so it never actually goes away, even though the antibiotics keep it under control. But something good is happening, the marks aren't raised any more, or threatening, they just seem to be fading. I'm sure I'm not imagining it! Apple cider vinegar rocks! Back to GP for new antibiotics today. Have been feeling so rough that I can't really tell if Cider Vinegar helped or not, but didn't give it a proper go. Once the spots are under control again I'll try it again - but not now.

 - for anyone who's interested Holland and barrett sell a drink called Honegar - it's cider vinegar pre-mixed with honey which is how it's recommended to be taken. It costs more than cider vinegar but 2 tablespoons in a full glass of water tastes really nice and taken 3 times a day would ensure you're drinking more fluid plus the health properties of acv plus honey. I found a web page about this a few days back and will post the link if I can find it again (not about the brand, but about the health benefits of acv plus honey). My hubby likes it too - he didn't like the diluted acv!

I understand what you mean about drinking it - it just doesn't feel right... I feel like a the bottom of a bag of vinegar soaked chips and crave salt! Still think it's worth a shot tho' - as regards Honegar - a diy would be 2 tsp acv, 2 tsp honey, diluted in water - maybe cheaper. I'll try again once the Trimethropin kicks in and I start feeling less rough. Shirley Maclaine eh? Fancy that.  Mixin' with Hollywood... still, we're all stars here already!

 You could always mix it with Manuka honey withu, for maximum effect ? Yes, I just did a little search and it sounds like vinegar has a lot of medical uses both inside & out. Shirley Maclaine eh ?

ya thats what I drink every morning, a tablespoon of ACV + a tablespoon of honey, it doesnt taste bad at all...after all ppl use vinegar in salads etc...

Cider Vinegar Note.
If you want the most benefit, Do Not Use Grocery Store Vinegar.
It is filtered and all of the good enzymes and other goodies are removed.
What you want is the old fashioned vinegar that is unfiltered and clowdy, and containes all of the good stuff.
Also the taste is milder than the store stuff. You can usually find it at health food stores. I usually get mine at TRADER JOES stores.
Helpfull hint--Instead of in water, use some fruit juice.
Helpfull hint #2 When you drink something you automaticly close the passage to your nose that is in the back of yout throat.
After you swallow the vinegar/water/juice/or ?- Keep it closed for a couple of seconds while you swallow a water/ juisc/or ? chaser.
If you don't, the vinegar fumes will still be there and you get the gag response.
Hope this helps a little.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly makes apple cider vinegar helpful for skin conditions? How does it compare to other kinds of vinegar?

All I know is what Mama told me: that apple cider vinegar is supposed to clean the inside, while white vinegar cleans the outside. Of bodies. Soaking my fingers in apple cider vinegar is the only thing I've found to help my pompholyx. I've thought about trying to soak them in white vinegar (becuase of what Mama always said), but I don't want to mess with something that works. I've downed it straight. It helps if you get someone to pay you to do it.
