Title: RESULT with the Manuka honey !!
Post by: Celery Peach on May 30, 2003, 08:32:22 AM

:hi:

I am so happy today :bounce: ;D I got the honey 3 days ago and have been applying a thin layer on a draining lession that has been there for months. I just wish I'd taken some before and after pics. It was bright red, raw, very sore and draining, it is now almost healed, I have no dressings on today ;D Another lump started draining on the 2nd day, so I applied some honey and a dressing, that has gone down completely too.

:bounce: :bounce:

Uncle Fishs,
that's a great name for yr future column ;)
I want to tell u that I have heard that honey can cause allergic reactions(that's why moms shouldn't give it to newborn babies).I think that it is safe to be tested on small areas first.
And I have a question-what does Manuka mean?
???

 Fish, Im not sure Val would apprieciate 'Aunty Val' :shake: after all, we are all around the same age here 'ish' ;D

I have no idea Teodora, what the Manuka means, its a NZ honey, the pack boasts that its so good because of all the unspoilt greenery in their land. Thank you for putting the warning, a skin patch test is allways adviseable, I forgot to say, in all my excitement ;D

:hi:

Well Teo and Celery ..

Ok manuka .. This is a native New Zealand bushy scrub tree . It grows quits rapidly and is found throught New Zealand .. The name is a New Zealand Maori name and is bascically meaning "source of many riches"

It is one of the bushy trees that the bees pollinate with relish and is also a source of "Manuka Oil " and essential oil much like the Australian Tea Tree oil and with very similar qualities .. here in New Zealand the tree grows pretty much wild and It makes good firewood .. There is also a use for it as furnature ..

Hope that answers some questions on this Native NZ tree

Hey there CP,

I know I'm a bit late for the cheer, but .........

 That's wonderful news :bounce:

Isn't it amazing that somethign as simple as honey can have such a dramatic effect on HS. I've often heard it saidf that nature provides a treatment and a cure for every disease on the planet, we just need to look in the right place at the right time :)
I really am pleased for you

Has anyone else thought about trying it on another skin condition?

I'll volunteer for a test on facial psoriasis if you like ?

Nick, it is used for other Skin Conditions, with apparently good results.

Then I'm definitely game

I've had good results in the past with dead sea mud and recently have been using some of the Guthy Renker creams and potions.
Honey sounds much healthier though, not as messy or as expensive

Sounds good to me ;)

:hi:

Celery ..

You can get these medi packs now ..
with the manuka active honey in.

They are similar to the poultice packs .. The honey leaches out slowly from the gauze on one side and the other is like a padded wad so it is not messy and wont be sticky etc and gooy on the clothes etc. They come with tabs and wrap around ties so easy to use..
