Title: Kefir - natural probiotic yoghurt - only richer
Post by: Aquababe241 on Sunday May 07, 2006, 03:00:15 PM
Hi folks...

Whilst browsing Curezone, I discovered something called kefir - which contains lots of probiotics and Vitamin B, folic acid...

What's interesting is that kefir actually keeps the colon healthy by getting rid of candida whilst it leaves the colon with plenty of healthy bacteria.  It discourages parasites from living in your colon.

Whilst fermenting within the 24 hour period recommended it digests the lactose, proteins and sugars in the fresh milk leaving people with a lactose intolerance well able to eat it.  I think that's great!!

It's taken by babies, nursing mums, expectant mums and also the elderly as well as people who want to clean up their health.

More research on the internet reveals that you rub some on your skin at night, and it leaves you with glowing skin in the morning.

I've heard that the Kefir Shop in Scotland sells the grains for £7 and that lasts for life.  Another site, Dom's Kefir in-site (or something like that) has pages of info about it and how to make everything from kefir yoghurt, to kefir mascarpone, kefir camemburt, etc and etc.

Since I've got the dreaded E, I can't usually eat those products but the more you leave the kefir to ferment, the more digested are the proteins and sugars in it.  Sometimes, there's practically no natural sugar in it, as it's all been digested by the kefir...

Which I think is absolutely great

I'll be getting some  this week as wheatgrass though useful is very expensive I've used up 8 trays this week!

I've also decided to go 100% raw except for the kefir...It'll replace the chicken fillets I've been having...

I was 70% raw any way and might as well go the whole hog...I want to show off my arms this summer...

Watch this space

Yes Aqua,
Both Kefir and conventional yogurt do as much for the exterior skin as they do for the interior skin (the intestinal tract).  You can use them each individually or together or in conjunction with coconut or olive oil on occasion.  The beneficial bacteria help to crowd out counterproductive organisms.  I see no downside to periodically applying them to your skin.

But the grains sold in Scotland for seven pounds... not sure I understand the reason for that.  If you buy Kefir or Yogurt at the market as an edible or drinkable product, they contain all the live organisms you need with which to cultivate your own.  Just bring some lowfat milk almost to the boil, let it cool to about 99F (body temperature) pour a glop of yogurt or Kefir into it.  In a day or so, smear it on or add fruit or other flavorings to your taste and eat it.  Or both.  Bon Apetite!

Hello Anthropositor...

I got the grains from Scotland and don't have to buy anymore as it begins to double in size after 2 weeks in daily changes of goats milk.

I've been drinking kefir for over a week now and my skin loves it!!  I'm also doing a parasite cleanse with the classic Wormwood, Cloves and Black Walnut tincture...the only thing is that I know I'm not meant to have dairy but I do need my protein.

I have decided not to go 100% raw after all as I've already got signs of muscle wastage due to lack of protein... and I can't really eat nuts due to the mould on them...so I'm keeping to chicken and fish.  Chicken breast fillets and fish straight from Billingsgate Fish Market in Poplar.

I plan to do a liver flush after the 16th day of the parasite cleanse...just on Day 4 at the mo....

My skin loves all this stuff...I just might put it on my skin after a bath....Hmm ::)

Hi folks!

Have been drinking kefir for just over a month now and my nails are super strong.  My skin has stopped flaking and also the only itchy part of my skin is on my chin.

I'll be on my 3rd liver flush in 2 weeks time.

My 2nd liver flush gave way to really large oblong gallstones which floated to the top of the toilet water.  The were kind of light green and .5 inch long and .25 inch thick.  Quite large!  I've heard that after 10th flush the skin is much better as liver is now much cleaner and gallbladder free of stones.

I do it once a month as it's quite taxing on the body.  But really worth seeing those gallstones afterwards.

Meanwhile the kefir is doing a great job and I've actually got a bit more curvy now due to all the kefir I'm drinking.  It's so hot these days in London, UK that my kefir has actually been turning to cheese in the space of 24 hours.  I'll be buying raw goats milk soon as its much richer in good bacteria.

Hopefully, by 2 months time, my skin will be much more smoother on my arms.  Everywhere else is doing rather nicely thankyou...

Hi folks!!

Well it's only 9 days later and my skin is absolutely hummin'!  The only hard and leathery places left are the back of my arms...

Everywhere else is turning baby smooth and flake free.  Yaye!!

I've been wearing strappy tops and my friends have noticed the difference .  I'm sleeping like a baby and all the itchiness has gone except for a tiny patch on my chin.  The kefir is really great and I thank Doms Kefir-in-Site for all the info and The Kefir Shop in Scotland for supplying the kefir grains...Just £7 for a lifetime of kefir....(The grains grow and multiply in each batch of milk you put them in).

Last year...I spent lots of money on acidophilus, Advanced Caretenoid Complex (Solgar), Zinc and also Vitamin/mineral tabs.

I got fed up and now only take Richard Schulze's Superfood, Evening Primrose oil by the bucketful and at least 500mil of kefir everyday.  Add 2 avocadoes and plenty of fruit smoothies and veggie smoothies and my skin is absolutely BEAMING!

And to think I was desperate enough to want to buy HGH Gold for wrinkled hands a few months ago...Phew!!

Money saved, money saved!  Not mad, just extremely ecstatic...Must get my dating gloves on - imagine ...7 years????

so awesome to hear how kefir has helped you!!!  I went to the site you suggested for doms kefir...wow!!! loads of info.  The site coincides w/ my microbiology class!!  I wont be able to order from your site due to cost to the USA but am on a search where to get it here.  It makes sense to do it by yourself as opposed to buying ready made kefir.  Not to mention it sounds fun...like a science project!!  Now while my hubby is brewin the beer I can brew the kefir!!!  Thanks for the info.   ;D

I did not make kefir, but I did buy a small bottle of it the other day to try it.

I did not expect it to be quite so delicious. Kind of a treat to have a small glass of it.

Who knew medicine could taste so good.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Hi folks!!

I've just come out of hospital for something unrelated to skin, but it's been affected as the food was terrible...Toast every monrning...

My skin feels awful on my arms now...Fortunately I could carry on making kefir in their as you do it at room temperature!!

I'm out now as I mentioned before and am going to do a Liver flush, get a Parasite Zapper to kill all the extra parasites and heal the rest of my skin...All the healed skin on my arms and neck looks like a prune in just one month....

I'm really fed up of the yo-yo effect of all this and am really going to go at the dreaded E with both hammer and tongs!! >:(

Enough as they say is ENOUGH!!

Phew!!  Feel better after venting that...

Hi folks!

Done the liver flush on Thursday and my skin feels and looks better now.  The flakey face is getting better.  Been researching the net and found that Goldenseal is good for getting rid of candida and also colloidal silver..  Anyone know about colloidal silver...apparently a machine called a "Silver Puppy" is very good at making the silver and switches off when done.

So Trueskin might want to know about that for microbiology as well.

Did another liver flush today and went to sleep whole day...skin on face and neck now supple and soft.

Aquababe-

The one important thing to keep in mind with the herb, Goldenseal is to not take it longer than two weeks at a stretch.

Goldenseal acts as an antibiotic and cleases the body. It reduces inflammation and kills bacteria in your body. Goldenseal contains a compound called berberine. Berberine is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It works against bacteria, protozoa, and fungi such as Candida Albicans. It is generally nontoxic at the recommended dosage, but it is not recomended for use during pregancy, and high doses can interfere with B-vitamin metabolism.

Use Goldenseal with caution and under supervision if you have cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or glaucoma.

Recommended dosage: Take one tablet or softgel 3 times each day with a full glass of water at mealtime when you are risk of infection. Again - Do not use Goldenseal for longer than 2 weeks at a time.

Echinacea is another herb than should not be taken for longer than 2 weeks at a stretch.

Hi you guys.
You might want to jump onto the Kombucha-Kefir thread that Trueskin started a while back.  I've gotten side-tracked with the Kombucha fermented tea because I'm already fermenting wine and hard cider.  I don't think anyone has yet gotten into the Kefir subject much.  I sort of regard Kefir as slightly thinner yogurt with an alias.  I eat one and drink the other and will rub either one on my skin if the mood strikes me.  Somebody who knows a lot about Kefir in particular would be welcome, I am sure, both on that thread and this one.

3 years on and I'm still on the kefir....having passed on loads to my friends as they like how their hair grows thicker and nails get stronger...I'm the only one of them using kefir for eczema management, but they still comment on how it's good for their skin too.

So glad I discovered it.

I gave some kefir to a friend of mine to get her pregnant.  She's been married for 5 years.....I hope that she can get pregnant soon.  The kefir is soo good.  My hair is down to my shoulders now.  I've been locked since 2007.  My hair is thinning at the roots, but I'm going to be steaming my hair with Amla oil.

I have changed my focus from the yogurts, kefir, kambucha, and so on.  I currently consume yogurt of my own production.  It is a combination of cow and goat milk (to reduce the cost).  But eventually, when I get my own goats, that will no longer be a consideration.  I complicate it a little by adding some commercial goat cheese.

I am inclined not to let it get as entirely gelled as store bought yogurt.  Wait that long and it is fairly tart if eaten unflavored with fruit or sweeteners.  I start consuming it as a kefir like liquid, flavored right at the moment of drinking with raw, unfiltered wildflower honey.  Perhaps it is habit forming.  I find myself using about four to twelve ounces a day, often followed by some fermented cider.

Hey there everyone, I bought some more Kefir from the Kefir shop and drank it after 2 days.  It was absolutely delicious! I told a friend about it and bought some for her.  It's making my face better already.  I think I'm going to be drinking 4 cups of it a day as it's so good for skin.

Last Wednesaday I went to the doctor's and he gave me a steroid cream for the eczema on my arms. Realy bad they are at the moment.  Well, it turns out after 2 applications, my skin started peeling at a a very fast rate.

I will just keep moisturising it with shea butter and drink plenty of kefir. I've come full circle, first clearing the eczema then it came back again.

The good thing is that this time I know what to do to clear it.

Hi there...it's 2014 and my kitchen has been getting damp especially in winter.  I leave the windows open daily am and pm for air.

I have had to resort to buying raw goats milk kefir from Chuckling goat farm in Wales, UK. Really expensive.  My juicer has broken and I am doing smoothies with my Vitamix blender for now. That is still going strong, Praise God!

I bought a cheap water filter as I am drinking a lot of nettle loose leaf tea from Baldwins.  Meant to be good for skin.  The staples in my superfood list are kefir, wheatgrass juice, Moor Mud Herbal Bouquet for drinking and I use coconut oil on my skin with aloe vera gelly to stop the itching and hydrate the skin topically.

Mum's in hospital for bit and is missing her juice.... Bah humbug! She should be out tomorrow...

Take care folks...

Hi there folks!

I went to Borough market today to get raw milk, raw cream and eggs.

Returned home only to find that the only dairy GAPS diet recommends is fermented and raw cheese (the harder the better).

Am not doing the GAPS diet, but have noticed that foods eaten agree with everything allowed on the GAPS diet. I have been doing this without knowing I have been following it...

However, I can digest beans as I leave them in a bowl of water overnight to soak and leach the natural gases off.

Also, while cooking beans, change the water a couple of times to leach more gas off before adding other ingredients.

Last, but not least, cook the beans real slow. 4-5 hours as opposed to 1.5-2 hours.

My secondary schoolmate explained that the more beans you eat, the more you get acclimatised to digesting I them.

Well, let's see...I cooked a massive pot of nigerian honey beans following the above method.

Will be having beans 2ce a day for the whole week.

My kefir has finished - got to order more next week.

Still got my Mud, and juicer has been fixed since May. Skin is much better, although I did get sunburn on face and neck.

Peeled for 6 weeks until discovering Amaroli and now skin has settled down and now healing at a Very Fast. RAte!!

Go Aqua, Go Aqua, Go Aqua...Go!

Take care folks!
