Hi folks!!

I've come up against a brick wall, I thought my diet was healthy until discovering that a lot of healthy food I was eating was feeding candida in my body.

Instead of putting coconut oil on my skin as usual, I took a shower and did an oatmeal/clay scrub.

I went to bed with a little coconut oil to moisturise.  You see, this was to see the state of my skin in its natural state without the oils I normally put on.

Well, I noticed not only my skin was extremely dry, and exfoliating, but you could actually see yeast on the skin!! Went into my local health shop where they are very knowledgeable and opened a book which said foods to avoid.  I had been eating 5 of the forbidden foods.

Candida thrives on carbohydrate as it is made of complex sugar.

Question is - what is the best carb to eat that won't feed the candida?  I've been without carbs for 2 days, and today I felt weak...I'm cooking yam as we speak... Because at the end of the day, carbs give energy.

Has anyone got any sensible ideas on what a good anti-candida diet might be -and the best carbs to eat.

Rice has mould on it normally - even brown rice and that feeds candida Undecided

Thanks for replying -

Since I'm kinda desperate....searched for best natural remedy for candida

Garlic and virgin coconut oil were mentioned as being the best.

I've checked out the earthclinic site and VCO (coconut oil) is very good at ridding the body of excess candida.

The tastiest coconut oil I've tried so far is Coconut Connections £15 a jar... Lips Sealed

I've put it in my food before and it tastes really yummy - it could mean up to 3 tablespoons a day.  So the little jar won't last long.

The 10 litre pail is £165, so I guess I'll have 5 garlic cloves a day in juice and save up...

Such is life!! Shocked

Hi ALL...
Have you tried TwinLab Yeast Fighters?  Costs about US$14.00 for a one month supply.  (Best price I've found online is at Vitacost.com) It's quite good for helping to eliminate systemic Candida and gives one tremendous energy too.
It was recommended to me by a SkinCell member long ago because it contains good stuff for the gut; 3 grams of fiber blend and nearly a quarter gram of Lactobacillus Acidophilus, a probiotic.  Anybody (male or female) with compromised skin can come under attack by Candida.  I've been using it every day for about 3 years now.  It accompanies my pre-breakfast probiotics and I wouldn't be without it.
There are some really rigorous treatments (search on member 'skipmoocow') if one is so inclined, but in general try avoiding the obvious contributors - white flour and sugar.
Also, I use LOTS of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and prefer Garden of Life brand, very reasonably priced at about US$8.00 for a 16 ounce jar.  Excellent taste and quite delicious right out of the jar.  (I think that's about 1/2 what you're paying now Aqua.)
Later!

Hello Paul......I have been experiencing PPP on my feet and hands for about 3 years.  I, too, have experimented with changing eating and skin ointment routines to help my PPP.  Over the years I have found that my PPP flares up when my body is exposed to hot and humid days.  I also have several other autoimmune deseases that cause me to link these to PPP.  I went through a long series of visits to doctors and dermatologists over the years, only to find that they are not very forward thinking or open minded as I would expect them to be in the medical profession.  In light of this, I decided to become my own educated thinker by accessing the internet for answeres.  My conslusions so far are centered on the effects of "inflammation" in our bodies.  By keeping inflamation down, the body does not react as much to flare-ups.  I find that inflammation can come from some of the foods we eat as well as from other infections or disorders causing inflammations in our guts.  You are surely right when it comes to diet and health.  By cutting down on certain foods that stop the inflammation in our bodies and the results will most likely be like yours.  I also feel that we must go beyond this to stop not only the onset of symptoms, but also the resulting destruction of skin as the PPP progresses.  My own personal way to get a handle at the beginning of a flare-up is to watch the skin and to "pop" the small pustule bubbles as they first appear with a sterile sharp pin and then drain it.  When the pustule is very small, it drains with a clear fluid.  These, I believe, are the immune cells that are attacking the skin just below the surface. If I don't immediately drain the pustule and wait a few days, the fluid becomes whitish due to the skin cells it has devoured.  These areas become a brownish color after the cells have died due to draining.   This is good, because the skin then has a chance to heal and if I keep this up through the year, I can walk without pain.  The filled pustules are what  cause the itching and pain.   I also have other interesting findings, but would like to hear from you first for your  response.  Thanks for all the info you have done to help us with your outreach,

Hi DoriLynn!  Thank you for the kind words and for your Personal Message (PM) to which I've also responded.  Please feel free to contact me via this forum or email any time at all.
Suggested reading:  "Inflammation Nation" by Dr. Floyd Chilton.  It's a bit of sales propaganda, but his research and theories are spot on in my opinion.  It's a real eye-opener.

Hi everyone,...I had a colonic 2 weeks ago, but looks like I have to have 2 a week to see any effect.

I also go sunburn on my face a month ago and the exfolation on my face has gone crazy.  It's now spread to my neck.  Since the skin went really bad so did my diet...I've been eating pasta with butter and ground black pepper.  For most of this week and lots of baked plantain.

Next week is the last week of college before holidays and I'm going to be really serious with eating raw...it's the only thing that works for me...I've stopped having bananas and other fruit, except apples and lemons to spice up my smoothies and blends.

My kefir is like yoghurt and is coming along nicely...I've just had some.  Am having a sprout guacamole as we speak...I'll be going to the sauna once  a week as well to relax.  At least in the sauna I drink a whole 2 ltrs of water.  Normally sit there for a couple of hours with cold shower breaks.

My mood's alright, but am real fed up with all the constant flaking.  I'm determined to sort my skin out and look like rawmodel...have you seen his blog?  I was up til 1.30 last night reading it! Very interesting
