You must register and be logged in as a member to use the Chat Room.

To access the Chat Room, make sure you are in the <<Index>> front page of the forum and scroll down the page. When you click on the "Join Chat" link a new window will open giving you access to the chat room.

In the top right hand corner you will see the names of any other members logged in the Chat Room.

In the bottom right hand corner you will see the following:

Reload - Click this button and the text window will refresh at your command. The window is set to automatically refresh every few seconds.

Online List - This button will allow you to refresh members showing in your 'target' window.

Info - Displays Chat Room data

Log Out - Logs you out and closes the Chat Room window.

I tried the chat room, hit the reload and all I got was test, test.  The window is to large and can not see the bottom.  ND- gal

The test message was probably Nick just testing the room.  He is still trying to sort it all out

The screen is really big you have to scroll all the way down to get to the bottom where you type.

I know for myself I have to scroll on the far right side of my screen, not in the chat window itself.

Hope this helps  Smiley

What screen settings do you have for PC ? The chat screen should open up with enough space to see all of it.

Hey Nick,

I am running Windows ME
and am using Internet Explorer version 5.5
But I also sometimes use the internal browser of AOL if that makes a difference.  BTW, I don't think it is a big deal

AOL ! Shocked

Ohhhh !  Embarrassed
A law unto themselves and the bain of main websites :-/

AOL can cause problems due to conflicts between the website and the browser. For example, the chat room window is configured to accept all browsers. If the browser agrees, the chat room opens up at just the right size, in just the right place. However, if the browser says "No thanks, I'll do it my way" then the window may open anywhere and in any confuration.
And there is the problem in a nutshell, the chat is designed to open up so everything is there, but your browser may well be ignoring the layout instructions and going off on its own.

Another contributing factor may be Javascripts. The Java settings in IE Tools/Security may not be set to allow the chat room to open properly.

There are so many things to take into account. If it does become a problem, let me know and we'll see what we can do to resolve it Smiley

Hi Bri,

Well, one of the main reasons for changing our chat room was to be able to accomodate our AOL based members.

So far it seems to be holding up quite well.
If any members experience anything unusual (apart from Ian's usual WILD parties Huh ), please let me know and we'll do our best to sort it Wink
