I've read a lot that mentions a link between oily fish and eczema.

Here's one link:

http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/Concern/Eczema.htm

(The fish oil part is a little bit down in the page)

I've also heard that if you have eczema and are deficient in omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, eating more oily fish or taking fish oil supplements can help a great deal.

I haven't tried it myself, though.  Tongue

Got told a long time ago about this by my asthma specialist, tried it, made no difference to the asthma at all. As they didn't believe me, they made me have "oily fish" twice a week, on 1 of my hospital stay's, again, made not difference at all.

Before someone jumps in and say's you need to eat oily fish, over a long period of time. We do, once a week at least, it has helped in the cholesterol dept.

Funny, I heard this same story today on local radio and they mentioned that oily fish helped psoriasis too.  This confirms my belief that  all these diseases are related.  My eldest has been hospitalised twice with asthma, my youngest has just been (hesitantly) diagnosed with it (yes just this week Sad), my brother has hay fever, my aunt has discoidal eczema and various aunts and uncles have had "lumps on the head" which I now suspect was p.  I really think all these things are related, and if they are now saying that oily fish is good for asthma and p, well doesn't that  mean they might be related too, apart from eczema, which supposedly already is?

There's lots of oily fish off the coast of Spain right now..

Seriously though, I think there's a degree of truth in the omega-3 thing - I try and eat mackerel every other week or so - you can't beat it smoked with peppercorns on, it's really tasty, and oh boy! is it cheap!!

I agree that Omega 3 oils seem to be beneficial for the skin plus fish is pretty good for you anyway

Such a shame - I remember when I had my honeymoon there 13 years ago the water was so clear I was scared to go in it in case I stepped on the fish!

My nutritionist says it is very very important for skin issues to take cod liver oil, and also flax seed oil pills.

I've read the same for Rosacea. Omega 3 from Flaxseed and fish oil. Also, borage oil is supposed to be really good, but I can't find it in Australia.
