(1)Taking artificial sugar-excess of these sugars increases blood sugar and cause inflammation.This however affects the skin collagen and elastin.When the sugar is digested it becomes attached to the collagen.The more the amount of sugar attached the more damaging it becomes to the skin.
(2)Taking Starchy And High Giycermic Foods-Foods like white bread,white rice and pasta are not good for your skin.When taken frequently,they also cause inflammation making the body to produce enzymes that break down collagen and elastin.Your skin then sags and wrinkles
(3)Consumption Of Beverages-this contain sugars too.They get into the blood stream faster than even the foods and are more likely greater damage to the skin.Alcohol for example dehydrates the skin,making the skin to age prematurely.In the case of caffeinated drinks,the blood vessels become constricted and the amount of blood flowing to the skin is reduced.
What Is The Way Forward
-Eat a well nourished diet
-Drink a lot of water
-Take a lot of foods with antioxidants e.g fruits, beans
-Stop all those skin damaging foods mentioned in this article.

One thing I have noticed about glowing skin comments...you only talk about what mostly to use on the skin...if it is very sensitive you have to treat it from within like you rightly state here...

 However, I have been on and off medication to treat hypoglycaemia and I find that even when I eat healthy, if I am on the medication, the skin still flares... I now balance my diet with plenty of vegetable protein like bean sprouts, lentil, soaked almonds and raw eggs, fermentegoatmilk,  and sardines besides plenty of juicing...

The people on this site are mostly malnourished from eating, like you said, plenty of white foods, like pasta, rice, etc.

When I quit eating rice, my skin cleared up more...

I have also noticed that when I lean more to cooked food within the food I can eat, my skin itches more...Right now, I am dealing with sunburnt face...which has been peeling for 3 weeks now...

I am going to get some moor mud to drink and apply on my face...Good thing it is not only natural, but works very fast!
