new to forum with grovers

I have had guttate psoriasis for 40 years ( tried all meds and treatments) and for the last 3 years, had success using Raptiva; however, it was taken off the US market in June. Once off the raptiva, I was started on MTX for a flare up. It was not like my previous bouts with guttate psoriasis and finally, after a biopsy, I have been diagnosed with Grover’s disease, most common in men! It seems to be complicated by dermatitis, but I have had no psoriatic lesions in 5 month. Dermatologist has never seen anyone migreate from guttate to grover’s nor has he known anyone with guttate for 40 years as it supposedly goes away or migrates to plaque. Anyone else developed Grover’s disease?

I am sorry to hear you've developed Grovers. There are actually quite a few people in this forum who have it - including me. I just turned 30, so I am REALLY defying what the researchers have said about who gets it and when. It's a mind boggling condition, which can be quite frustrating, ugly and itchy, but being in contact with others on this site - who've "been there, done that" is pretty helpful. There are different theories as to what may cause Grover's, but of course, NO absolute research. Did your doc give you any coping "remedies" for dealing with Grover's? There are different things you can try to ease the redness and itch. Best wishes for dealing with this crazy-rashlike-annoying disease. (Sarri)

Thanks Sarri,
Basically, the treatment is the same as for the psoriasis, it seems. MTX,( I think to keep the psoriasis in check) topical cortisone creams & spray,my light box, and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize...and we added a doxycycline cycle to the mix for the dermatitis! Oddly, mine does not itch at all. But years of topical cortisones has made my skin so thin that the capillaries break practically by staring at them and I bruise at the slightest touch. Arnica, bromelain and Zinc didn't help. Supposedly, most cases only last 6-12 months, ( it is noted that we aready seem to be exceptions) and I hope yours is a short duration!
