Hey guys and gals,
I was diagnosed at 14 with lymphomatoid papulosis and eczema and now at 24 with PMLE.  I refuse to do any sort of methotrexate treatment for the LYP and with PMLE the uv treatment is out (tetracycline and steroid creams wont work).  I came to terms with the whole LYP thing since all it ever really does is just look bad.  But now with PMLE im kind of at a loss for where to go treament wise.  Ive been put on a regime of vitamin B 3 times a day but with no improvement.  They say the next step is some silly malaria drug where i have to get my eyes tested every 6 months.  Im just wondering if there's any other treatments that aren't so serious?  Also i dont really get a rash with the pmle i just get horrific itching that can last for days.  I work in the sun all day and it looks like i will be quitting my job in the next few days since there's no way around UV exposure.  Hope this is in the right forum.

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff and welcome to skincell.  I don't know much about your conditions but I have taken Plaquenil which I think is the medication you are talking about.  It is usually well tolerated and the side effects are usually rare and few.  You do have to get your eyes tested but it is no big deal.  I did have a rare reaction from it.  I had a spider vein treatment which, because of the Plaquenil, caused some dark spots on my legs where I got the injections.  B

Hi Jeff!
Welcome to Skincell Hi there

I don't know that much about PMLE, but I do know there are quite a few folks around here who soffer from it.

I'm sure someone will be able to offer some advice.

Matt.

Hi  my name is Natalie and my 14 year old has just been diagnosed with this condition. she currently still has many ulcerated sores which look terrible but the more worring thing is the increased risk of lymphoma, although not alot is known about this disease is the risk high? does any one know  we have been told she will need 6 monthly blood tests for the rest of her life. All she heard was cancer, cancer, cancer....
