I had flu like symptoms in January 2009 and about one week later I got the herald rash on my torso.  Then by mid February they all started coming.  I'm in Los Angeles and it gets hot in winter and I sweat and it spread all the way down to my feet and hands, all over my arms and legs, on my scalp and a little on my face.  This lasted about three months and it started to clear up.  The rashes on my face, arms and midsection went away leaving faint dark spots.  My legs were stained with very visible dark spots where the rashes had been.  and then it seemed like I got it again before it was completely gone and got what appeared to be a herald rash on the dorsum of my right foot with new rashes on my legs and torso but none on my arms.  Now it's July and this has been going on since February.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  It appears that the second round seems to be going away and is also leaving dark pigmented very visible spots down my legs.  It is very obvious only on that part of my body.  What is going on?  My general practitioner diagnosed it and I've avoided seeing a dermatologist because it's very expensive and everything I read says that there is nothing that can be done so I don't want to waste my money.
