HI
« on: Monday June 22, 2009, 06:33:37 PM »

I just found this forum last night and I was so glad.  So I guess the best place to start is at the beginning.

I'm fairly new to skin problems, just started this last Feb/March.  Started out just a little red around my wedding ring, happened before no big deal.  Take the ring off, get it cleaned, let the skin go back to normal, everything is fine.  But it didn't work that way this time.  It got worse so I went to the Dr. and was told contact dermatitis with a secondary fungal infection.  Oral Lamisil and a steriod/antifungal cream.  Which I try to use as directed but I ended up having to wipe it off in the morning because my son in just under a year and half so I still need to be very hands on.  Next day all these blisters popped up on both hands, I waited a few days then went back and he told me it was Pompholyx. The blisters went away, skin started peeling went back to the Dr. to see how everything was doing, the fungal infection had jumped hands and, unrelated to the skin, I had a kidney infection (cue medical country song).  I've been using the drugs as directed with the noted exception, I've also switched my soaps to all natural ones and found a tea tree oil and vitamin E antiseptic cream to use.  I'm a dog groomer so dealing with this has been a pain not only for myself but my co-workers.  I have an appointment with a dermatologist coming up on the 2nd so I'm hoping she might be able to help me more than my regular dr.

Well, that's it so far.

Hi thre FairieRose!
Welcome to Skincell Hi there

Having had pompholyx myself, I know what the itching is like Hugs

There are several remedies for the itching, and the one I used was dabbing apple cider vinegar on the skin. It stopped the itching quite quickly Smiley

Anyway, I hope you can sort it out Smiley

Kindest Regards,

Matt.

Went to the Dermatologist today and got some new prescriptions.  One as a barrier cream that the pharmacy has to order and the other steriod foam that I can't really afford.  I felt really hopeful after talking to the Dr.  now though just feeling a little blah because I had to leave the script at the pharmacy.
