Oh, this http://www.hotelnorthstafford.co.uk/ is RIGHT across from Stoke train station Smiley  A 10 min bus ride from the City Centre too, from where almost everything in the city is accessible.  You might even get to see me driving a bus :p

And this http://www.cityhotels.org.uk/FPhotel.htm is also close.

Bama, a reminder that if you're stuck for somewhere to visit while you're in Stoke, and knowing that you and Dan like to sup some ale on occasion  Wink there is the Yew Tree pub at Cauldon Low which has always featured prominently in Good Pub Guides - in fact I believe CAMRA regularly give it top ranking.

It's not far from Alton Towers Theme Park so it may be possible to get a bus - perhaps Guzzi or others who know could advise??

It's been many years since I last visited but it was a fascinating place - not just for the beer either - I don't think the original owners ever threw anything away!

Durn. Sad That does sound like it would be fun. We may look into what taxis cost... Smiley

In the meantime, we've got this to look forward to: the Etruria Industrial Museum, which will be "in steam" that weekend, along with the gardens and local pubs. Smiley

I'm trying to access the stokebus.info page as that has all the bus routes/timetables but it seems to not be working.

The timetable is a green pamphlet and should be available at the train station and most likely in any hotel you stay at.

Holy monkey shine the Stoke council website is more useless than not.  Tells you what is around, but not how to get there.  Idiots! :p

Somewhere next to the Clocktower would be OK. Everyone should be able to find that OK.

Still not sure what the weather will be like though...

Just give Dan the address, an internet connection, and 15-20 minutes tops.

Which means if you put it here we're good.

Dan forgot his external navvie, but the one between his ears is still functioning brilliantly.

I got back about 10:30pm.  I had a 120 mile drive back, on unfamiliar roads so wanted to do as much as possible in daylight.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet Bama and Dan for the first time, and of course Matt who I have met before.

We had plenty of laughs, I introduced Bama and Dan to Yorkshire puddings and Staffordshire oatcakes...what could be better? Smiley
