OK, so it's summer 2009. When and where?

I would love to meet up with people. It would have to be a flying Sunday visit for us tho, as we work 6 days a week. So obviously it would depend on where ?

Well.....

If we made it Sunday 2nd August, and Sheffield way, I'd be able to make it.

See I'm coming over to take photos at my mates wedding, and that's on Saturday 1st.

I've got to be back at my folk's house in Skegness for my sister's birthday on the 3rd.

Of course, it could be in Skegness, and then I'd be around from early on the Sunday, right through until the flight back on the Thursday.

Anyone fancy a weekend at the seaside?

Wow, that sounds great!! I have been wanting to see Skegness ever since one member on here talked about how "bracing" it is.

Dan had me check, and that also coincides with the Great British Beer Festival, which he (understandably) wanted to see. (I wouldn't mind some nice stout myself. Or porter. Ooo.)

Well Bama (and anyone else who's interested)

Just down the road from Skegness is Wainfleet, home of Bateman's Brewery.

They usually offer tours around the brewery throughout the summer.

I went last year, and it was great. There's a small bar there too, so you can sample some of the real ales they brew.

Ooh... I nearly forgot...

Bama, if you like pubs and you fancy getting  Sloshed then Wainfleet has plenty of pubs, too.

Of course, there's always my mum and dad's local. They do great food too.

Just had a look at the map for Skeggy and I notice that the seafront roads next to the beach are called 'North Bracing' and 'South Bracing'. Sounds rather ominous to me - we might have to brace ourselves...  Grin

I saw several things that looked good... and then I saw *steak* Drool

I don't miss steak quite as much as I expected to... but make no mistakes, I miss steak. They're very funny here... they have "steak," but it's usually what I would call a pork chop.

Andy, from what I hear...

He hee Bama - I thought you would work railways into this somewhere  Grin - I see that's a vintage travel poster, pre-1948 as it mentions the former 'LNER' - or London & North Eastern Railway in the text.

Are you and Dan thinking of coming by train?  Shocked

Dan says we'll probably fly into London, but we'll train it from there. Cool This would be groovy by me.

Are we all going to arrange to stay in the same hotel? If so, where? Sorry about all this in-advance planning... Dan's convinced that he has to know every detail of his agenda before asking his boss for time off. Roll Eyes

Bamz,

If we are at Skegness, you'll want to be changing at Grantham.

Aye.

Of course, if you want to, you could stay in Grantham a short and explore...

I don't think I'll be able to make it up there that weekend, because we have a weekend away booked mid july and a week booked mid august so DH won't be able to have any more time off early august. If it was just me, I'd be there, but it's a long way to travel with the children for a weekend so I'm not going to make it I don't think. Sorry.
