Hi, just joined yesterday (GA)

I am a 62 year old female who was diagnosed with GA in February 2008...started out as a typical circular patch on my back. It has now "blossomed" into disseminate GA almost all over..my back, backs of arms, ankles, knees, thighs and worst of all, my face. I've been on the ointments and have Kenalog shots as well. Nothing really works..the shots help for a while until it breaks out in another area. My dermatologist says there's no real cure...he's pretty good about trying things but doesn't really offer hope. Right now I'm taking 100mg of minocycline (tetracycline)...so far, nothing but I guess I'll be on this for 3 months. I'm going to Ft Lauderdale on vacation in 2 weeks and the thought of putting on a bathing suits sickens me...I guess I'll be covered up most of the time. I'm happy to have found this forum...no one else knows what it's like. I fully realize that we all could have something really a lot worse (like cancer) but somehow that doesn't help when people look at you. I don't get massages anymore or facials and I'm even reluctant to get a pedicure. Sorry I'm yakking so much but it's the first time I've been able to verbalize this...my husband doesn't even want to hear it. Anyway, thanks for listening.
