Well, I can't take it anymore.

I've set up a blog.

My mum was getting upset because she isn't on facebook, and therefore can't read things on there.

So.... without further ado, I've set up http://www.mattc.org.uk to be a blog of my year in The US. Photos and all.

Oi there! I tried to comment with my pithy advice, but I was refused. Glad your mum will enjoy this, and I can understand that!

0h, get a lock-deicer while you are at it.........frozen car locks, very frustrating.

Hopefully, should be moved out weekend after next.

I'm missing being able to cook my own meals and dinners, so asap for me really.

Been to look somewhere today, and it was really nice. :cf:

Should be fixed now Jane :)

Just needed a bit of tweaking

I had forgotten that waitresses always ask if you want dessert. It is strange, isn't it?

It's strange? What do waitresses usually do then?  Can't remember what it used to be in UK, and so long since I've eaten out here, I don't know what is "proper waitress conduct". I do recall though when first in Canada how strange it was to me that waitresses would always place glasses of water on the table immediately after welcoming the guests.

It's strange because you're stuffed full as a tick. :) Over here, they ask if you want coffee, which makes more sense to me.

And I miss the water. With a lemon and lots of ice.

I stand corrected: last night our waiter handed us dessert menus although Danand I were clearly turning green from too much delicious food. ;D

And "tight as a tick" is slighly more common, but without context I figured that nobody woudl have any idea what on earth I was trying to say. ;D

That's funny too Bama. ;D

You must have lived in tick country!

I recall UK desserts fondly. People loved them and always left room for "afters". A meal wasn't complete without "pud". Yummy crumble, pie or sponge with loads of custard. I just adored it back then. One of the strangest things I recall when I first came to Canada was their penchant for eating apple pie with CHEESE. Sounded utterly disgusting. Didn't eat it then, and have never eaten it! Apologies to all the pie & cheese lovers! :o

It's the combo of sweet and salty, Jane... kind of like a cheese plate with grapes or slices of pear or apple.  I prefer my pie with ice cream, but I love cheese with fruit too.... ;D

Apple Pie with cheese? ???

You Canadians must be a bit

Anyway, I have only been able to manage pudding twice, only because the main courses are so filling.

I've been out and about today, doing a bit more exploring. Photo attached.

Anyway, my mum is supposed to be calling me in 5 minutes, so I need to dash.

Well , I've officially moved in to the apartment.

It's not the one I was hoping for. Different layout, and I'm on the ground floor. I was hoping to be first or second floor.

I've still got a patio with a nice view of the air conditioning unit :-\

Apart from that, which I can get used to, everything else is OK. I've got my broadband up and running :-)

Trust me, Matty, when summertime rolls around you'll be glad of a ground floor apt. :) Shame about the view, though.

I've got some more good news form last night....

I wanted to go to Walmart and I left my TomTom behind. On purpose.

I didn't need it.

Not only did I not need it to get to Walmart, I didn't need it when I made a wrong turn coming out of Walmart!

And I don't need it to get to the office either!!
