OK.... Update...

I have officially received the visa and my passport back via the Embassy courier.

I have booked the flight for the 27th. That's two weeks from now..

2 weeks!!!!!

Mum and Dad and Aunty B. are coming to Gatwick to wave me off. :) :) :)

Been sorting some more stuff today.

Last kickboxing class tonight. Was the little ones. Only a few tears, but a lot of sad people. Had a group photo, so that was nice.

Hire cars and hotels have been booked too.

All I need now is a bit of work to keep the boredom at bay.

Hi organized Matt!! Good to be organized, stops the worrying!

So..........what is the actual date you are leaving? Do you have to fly to London first before the crossing? We went to London for a couple of days, before Heathrow Airport and the BIG move, along w/the parrot, Hiliary.

Where do you land in the US? I'm sure you have mixed emotions, I remember those.

You are bringing back memories Matt.

Well, unfortunately, things aren't quite working as planned.

I'll be at work on the 26th, although I'm not sure for how long. Earliest normal finish is 4PM.

I've then gotta pack the car (2 big holdalls) and drive down to my aunt's house. She'll be looking after the car whilst I am gone. Its about a 2 Hour drive.

Then I have to load everything into a hire car, and drive another hour and a half to the airport, and check into the hotel.

The flight itself leaves mid morning on the 27th, and flies direct to Charlotte. Provided I can get a couple of hours sleep on the flight, I'll be OK.

There's another hire car and another hotel at the other end.

Hi Matt -- I can understand you having mixed emotions - I had them, and Bama sure did.

You will keep in touch though, I know that. And you never know, some folks might even come to visit you in USA!

It's not like it used to be when I first arrived on Canadian shores. Air travel is much cheaper, and much more readily available, it's not the B I G thing it was when I left. But I was emigrating, vs a working Visa (I assume) for a specific length of time..........

Awwwwww!

I'm pretty lucky in that regard. The kids I was teaching didn't have the time to get close to me. I still miss them, though... I sent them a postcard just last week. Not that they have any way of replying.

:hugs:

Geez, must be nice to be wanted. My mob couldn't get rid of me quick enough when I left to come down under.  ;D

Hope things go well for you Matt. Have a safe trip.
