Matt's Big Move
« on: Sunday January 11, 2009, 02:49:26 PM »
Well, it's about time I told you all...

I'm moving to The U.S.A. for a year. It's work related, but I'm sure that I'll have plenty of time for other things, especially Skincell.

I'll be moving in the next few weeks, my contract extension officially starting on the 2nd February.

I'll keep this thread updated as things progress.

They've sorted a place for me, so I'm OK. I should imagine it's a small apartment in the centre center of town.

Chances are slim, actually. Most of the time the center of town either had no apartments or you *really* don't want to live in them. It'll probably be on the outskirts of town.

{Bleep}it, I won't even be here to welcome you to the US. :( :( :(

Best of luck! And if it's any consolation... I know *exactly* how you feel. (Yikes!)

I may do Barefoot. I can't really leave them here on their own, and my sis won't take them in either.

Sweetmom, The office is in Rock Hill, South Carolina, but I may end up living closer to Charlotte, just across the border in North Carolina.

As for the move, the visa has delayed things considerably, so we're looking more towards mid to end of February now.

The bit that annoys me is why they didn't arrange the visa paperwork last year when the idea was first batted around. If they had, I'd probably be over there right now.

Anyway, I've bought some new maps for my Tomtom.

I've done most of the sorting, so there's just odds and ends to sort out now.

Dunno if England is like Germany in this regard, but if it is, then you'll have to develop a taste for regular, non-minerated water.

And I have have to develop a taste for mineral water. Yeachh.

Well, I haven't got a date yet Jane.

It will almost certainly be before the end of the month, so watch this space.

It's a really exciting time. I've never been away from "home" for so long before.

I still can't quite believe it.

It'll be a super adventure for you methinks. You are young enough to enjoy all the wonderous things about being a resident in new country. Residency and visiting, or holidays are totally difference things.

I'll watch this space!
