My wedding ring is made of white gold with the engraving of 14k inside.
When I wear it on my correct finger I get a blister on my finger.
When I wear it on the same finger on the other hand I never get the same results.
I have had the ring for 4 years now and continually test to see if it still happens and it always does. Sad

Has anyone else had this problem?
Any suggestions / or common reasons this would happen?

Hi there.. Sorry to hear about this problem. It's hard to say the exact reason, there could be many reasons ranging from you wearing a ring on that finger more than other, to the skin on that finger becoming more sensitive, there could really be several explanations. How bad does it blister? Perhaps, it'd be best to see a doctor.

It is possible that you have a higher body acid content on one hand than the other. Similar to how some people have combination skin with some areas being excessively oily while others are dry and scaly. If the one hand hand has a higher acid or pH than the other, it could cause a chemical reaction to the metal.

It could also be that the ring fits tighter on one hand than the other. Even if you do not notice the difference, it is still highly possible. Some people do not remove their rings when they wash the dishes or their hands. Or when they dry their hands. This can lead to bacteria building up beneath the ring. If the ring is even slightly looser on one hand than the other, washing and drying you hands will be more effective.

Try taking the ring off each time you cook, wash your hands or dishes. Dry your hands completely before putting the ring back on. Also keep your ring clean. You don't need chemicals to do this. All you need is a Soft toothbrush and a tiny bit of toothpaste. Rinse well after cleaning your ring and dry thoroughly. You could even put a tiny bit of powder on your ring finger to help control the acidity of your sweat.

I hope these ideas help.

There is a good chance Ferdinand's girl is on the right track here I don't know if I would rush off to the doctor just yet.  I wash my hands in pretty hot water.  My wedding ring often blisters my finger if I am forgetful about the fact that gold transmits heat very quickly, then traps that heat against the underlying skin, causing blisters sometimes.  If you are left handed, as I am, then your left hand and therefore that ring finger would get extra exposure to the hot streaming rinse water, and so on.  Try removing the ring when you do the dishes or wash your hands, particularly if you use rather hot water as I do.  That might clear it up without the intervention of a physician.
