Hi All

For anyone who is interested, I have signed up to run 10k on October 5th. At present I can run for approximately 30 seconds before I feel like I have to stop. It's going to be tough.

I have a sponsorship page here http://www.run10ksponsorme.org/rebeccaemin which also links to my Facebook group. I'm going to need all the encouragement I can get so please do feel free to offer me any advice on running - I need it!

I have already started training, so with just under 4 months to go, I hope I can do it...

This is such hard work. I am keeping an exercise log so I can look back on it eventually and see my progress. I am running 3/4 times a week and swimming and walking too. I don't think I have stopped aching since the Race for Life as I just haven't stopped.

I wish I wasn't so ridiculously unfit  Undecided  Sad

Keep hanging in there Woo, the fittest I ever was when I was in my late thirties after having 3 kids ... and I was pretty fit too, it can be done and having a goal like a run is a great motivator   Cool

Well it's time for a progress report! I have been training and last night I ran my usual route (about 4.2km) without walking once, for the first time ever. I was so delighted... I can hardly believe that just over a month ago I had to walk after about every 10 seconds of running.

I am doing a 5km Race for Life on Sunday 27th July to see how my training is going and this time I'm hoping to run it all, instead of walking it like I did the last one. Then I just have to double my distance by October   Undecided

On the serious side, my Godmother is now seriously ill with Cancer and I am going to visit her on Saturday morning. She is one of the people who inspired me to take up running for the charity. I think it will be quite hard to see her as ill as she is but I do want to see her nevertheless.

So, that's my update...

Hi ladies, thanks for the good wishes. It's actually my God mother but the sentiments are the same. I have known her since I was a child (she has been my Mums friend since they were young). She really is very ill and it was quite difficult seeing her in the hospice.

For my 5 km run on Sunday I'm going to write the names of everyone I know with Cancer on my back plate. It's quite a long list   Sad  One of them will actually be there on Sunday though (coincidence) so it will be lovely to see her (if I do).

Thanks Ladies

I am finding it a bit difficult today - all 3 children are at home but I don't want to let them see how upset I am. I guess I will have to let it all out when they are in bed.  Sad

It's a matter of days apparently  Cry

I am doing a Race for Life at 4pm today and it is meant to be 28 degrees C.  This is just typical of my luck. I don't expect a very fast time but will let you know how I get on.

Timing couldn't be more poignant really considering my poor Godmother... I am not sure how I will cope with reading everyone's back panel messages but I think there will be a few tears to say the least.

Have a good day everyone.
