Mums should never be underestimated!

Brian invited his mother over for dinner. During the course of the meal, Brian's mother couldn't help but keep noticing how beautiful Brian's roommate, Stephanie, was. Brian's Mom had long been suspicious of a relationship between Brian and Stephanie, and this had only made her more curious.

Over the course of the evening, while watching the two react, she started to wonder if there was more between Brian and Stephanie than met the eye.
Reading his mom's thoughts, Brian volunteered, 'I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you Stephanie and I are just roommates.'

About a week later, Stephanie came to Brian saying, 'Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the beautiful silver gravy ladle. You don't suppose she took it, do you?'

Brian said, 'Well, I doubt it, but I'll send her an email just to be sure.'

So he sat down and wrote:

Dear Mom:
I'm not saying that you 'did' take the gravy ladle from the house, I'm
not saying that you 'did not' take the gravy ladle. But the fact
remains that one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner.
Love, Brian

Several days later, Brian received an email back from his mother that read:

Dear Son:
I'm not saying that you 'do' sleep with Stephanie, I'm not saying that
you 'do not' sleep with Stephanie. But the fact remains that if
Stephanie is sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the gravy
ladle by now.
Love, Mom

 ROFL Indeed we do Hobb!
less than an hour ago I received an enormous hand tied bouquet, sent through interflora from my son, with a beautiful pale lavender bow, (it really is stunning) and a beautiful card, for Mothers Day. I was quite overcome when I got it, but we have just now had a long chat on the phone. It was so very sweet of him.

 Good one, Hobb.  Grin
I wonder why the son bothered lying to his mother in the first place?

Bunnie: What a loving son you have, I enjoyed reading about what
he sent you and that you are still very close to each other.

Was it "Mothers Day" over in the great UK?

If so, a happy Mothers Day to all the loving mothers on here.
It is a job that never ends, and one that never fails to surprise us.

In the USA, our Mothers Day for 2008 is May 11.

I hope all of our mothers felt happy on this, their day of honor.

Lovely Post Blue Sky! Yes it was Mothering Sunday yesterday. This was the one day of the year that sons and daughters came home to visit mother, and to take over her chores so that she could attend church.
When I was a child,  the morning service on Mothering Sunday was for children, and on the altar steps were placed tiny bunches of violets. (the traditional flower of Mothering Sunday) The children went up to the altar in procession to take a sprig of violets, for to take home for their mothers. I used to love that service. Here's a link to the custom (one of my favourite books!)
