After seeing a homeopath on Tuesday, I went to the Nutricentre in Regents Park and came across the book Coconut Cures by Bruce Fife.  After reading most of the book, I bought it and 2 tubs of Virgin Coconut oil.

Went to the sauna today and slathered coconut oil up to 4 times consecutively before going back in the sauna 4 times (that make sense? 1 x 4)  Skin felt very soft, even the crusty bits were smoother.  Got back home 3 hours later and went to  the loo. Noticed my face looked very smooth and wrinkle free.

I've actually been itching my face and exfoliating it every morning over the loo seat!! Same with the back of my arms and back, I normally skin brush the upper back.

Hopefully by the end of 1 month, I should be discoid eczema free...I shall be putting 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in my peppermint tea drinks 3 times a day and also oiling up up to 4 times a day.

Beats going to the Dead Sea in Jordan any day and much cheaper

I know it will work because the cheap variety of Coconut oil healed behind my knees and brought it from bleeding sore and raw to permanent health and that was 2 years ago.

I think my arms and neck and upper back need the VCO cos it's more saturated fat and creamy.

I'll let you know how I get on!!

Hi there!  Smiley
When I first developed psoriasis (around 1985) I was actually prescribed a coconut oil preperation...the P was cleared within a month! Spent several years virtually P free untill around 5 years ago...I mentioned it to my GP who kind of gave me a blank look...and now I don't seem to be able to get hold of it anywhere Sad

I don't "get" doctors!  There are so many wonderful botanical based products out there, but most don't have clue about them.  I think that mode of thinking does a grave disservice to their patients.  I hope you can find the product that worked for you online.  The internet is awesome!  Of course prescriptions have their importance, but they aren't the only option or even the best one sometimes.

Hi guys

I love coconut oil too. If my hands are sore, I put it on them before bed and they are better by morning. I have a nasty little patch of P that keeps threatening to creep from the front of my ear around my face, and whenever I see that scale there, again I put coconut oil on it at night and by the morning the scale has completely gone.

I love it!

Replicant, you can get tubs of plain coconut oil in Holland & Barratt for about a tenner and it lasts for a very long time. I know that's not the same as what you were prescribed, but maybe it would help a bit?

Back to Coconut oil...Actually, I find olive oil and shea butter cheaper and just as good.  The only thing is that it makes you darker as I've heard from the Indians.  Olive oil is good in winter and coconut oil in summer to prevent sunburn. Olive oil basically cooks your skin in the sun! Embarrassed

VCO is soo expensive! I've settled for Biona's brand as it's only £3 for a jar. I just do oil-pulling each morning with Coconut Connections VCO and it lasts for ages.  Put it on my skin and it'll be finished in one week! At £15 a pop.  Just can't do that. The Biona brand is not as fatty, but still smells of coconut and makes your skin soft.  I also put it in my skin smoothie before I go to bed.

INstant Skin Smoothie Recipe:

1 banana
1 sliced green apple
1/2 cup of carrot juice
1/2 cup of sunflower seed sprouts (just soak overnight and you're done)
1 large slice of avocado
2-4 sticks of celery for celery juice
Fresh lemon juice (amount according to taste)
1 heaped teaspoon of Virgin Coconut oil
0.5 inch knob of real ginger

Put all this in your blender (Vitamix makes it smooth) and blend for 1-10 mins depending on the type of blender/smoothie maker you have.

For first timers, just 1 8oz cup will do...When you get used to this amount, put more carrot juice, avocado, sunflower sprouts and eat slowly over 1/2 an hour.   This is very filling...hence the slow eating - you'll need a tablespoon, but it's really delish...Honest.

Go to bed.

You'll wake up with a beautiful, smooth and glowing face in the morning.

Aquababe - do you find that skin brushing helps? I wonder if it is also causing you to scratch after as there will be a tendency to touch the skin after to feel for rough spots, pick them off, etc.

Right now am taking a different approach as I used to do a similar thing but it would cause me to be itchy after.....so now as flakes of skin surface - I'm leaving and learning to ignore it unless it is in my eyes!
