Hi everyone,

I was surfing the net this evening and found this really useful website about Shea Butter.

At the moment, my face is almost smooth except for bits of flakiness around my nose, mouth and chin and even eyelids!! Undecided Fortunately, I've some 100% pure shea butter on me and have been massaging this onto the parts of my skin that I've picked the flakes off (red, sore and ouch!!)

The butter lasts a long time and you only need a little - it's much better than vaseline though it acts similar to it without being as greasy (I think)

Anyway, this website has a whole load of info that you might find interesting:

www.soaperschoice.com/soapoils/sheabutter.html

Yes, I know it's a site about soap, but this particular page is all about shea butter.

Hope this helps someone

Shea butter is definitely a good choice.  Vaseline is a terrible choice.  Vaseline is helpful if all you want is a barrier on your skin.  But any product using vaseline or petrolateum product will prevent any other healing ingredients to pass thru the skin.  Same applies to mineral oil.  Shea is really good at smoothing rough skin when it's added to creams as well.  Jojoba oil is also good for the face because it resembles closely the sebum in our skin.  Add a few drops of  tea tree and rose geranium essential oils to it and apply to your face.  It might avoid the need to pick at the sore places because they will slough off on their own.

Blessings,

I've also cut down on the amount of oils I'm consuming.

No more Udo's oil or evening primrose oil. Just oil pulling with coconut oil for 10-20 mins in the morning.

It's actually better to derive oils from food eg, oily fish like salmon, sunflower seeds. Mackerel, avocadoes.

My skin is flaking less now that I have the above everyday.  Funnily, enough it flakes more when I've had starchy food the previous day.  The wedding on Jan 12th (Saturday) was great - so I ate the food there (was Delish!!) You know - well done meat, fish and rice.  The next day my skin was really flakey, so I had a large portion of mackerel (practically ate a large one), cucumber.  Also ate an avocado with ground flaxseed meal (1 tbspn) with cucumber/red bell pepper.

+ LOts of water.  Face much better following morning.
