I made 2 posts earlier. Both were quite long and one was from the heart . I read them after they were posted but they are missing now. Edit: looks likes a server hiccup. Both posts had muliple pictures attached so maybe they were too big?

now i am confued I have recieved notification of a reply to one of my missing posts. When I click the link it brings me here Will try a reboot my end and see what happens Edit: reboot has failed to help so I guess the problem is at the server end. I saw both posts after posting

I'm confused too, Andi.
I'm sure I read one of them. Can't be sure, because I can't find them any more to check...
There's nothing in the recycle bin, or nothing else to indicate it has been deleted / moved. As mods, we log that sort of thing, and we would have to move it somewhere...
Bearing in mind the e-mail you got, something is definitely amiss somewhere in the forum databases, I think. Certainly, Bunnie has not replied to this post, as your e-mail suggested.
I would think Nick is already looking into it, or is at least aware something is wrong. He's very good on that sort of thing.

I posted a topic about Glycerine on the Eczema board that has also disappeared. It definitely did get posted originally, I remember checking later after logging off to see if anyone had replied and it was still there. Or if there was something wrong with that topic, please let me know, but I thought it was pretty innocuous....

I doubt there was anything wrong with it, Dapper. Once in a while the server hiccups, and that may be what's happened here. We'll have to wait till Nick is available to check into it.

Well I'm glad to see I was not the only one wondering where a missing post went. Actually, It wasn't even my post. It was a post in the "Let Me Introduce Myself" forum. A person named Ben1234 had posted a "Thank You" to everyone, and I happened to see it because I was on at the same time he was. The next day, I went to the forum and his post was gone. *poof* It dissappeared. The same thing that happened to the others must have happened to his. It's always a darn shame when a "Thank You" dissappears. (know what I mean?) But, I am glad that I was not the only one on here to notice a missing post. Now you know that Ben1234 thanked everyone and said he would try to find the things posted to him and then get back and let us know what happened. (Just FYI) Thank you for bringing this up, Andi, you are not alone with the "missing posts". I appreciate knowing that my mind wasn't playing tricks on me, and that it had to do with, as Totalfolly said " the server getting hiccups"... A technical term, I'm sure.

Well, as far as server hiccups go, it's probable that this one was limited to a few posts yesterday. Won't know for sure until Nick checks it out.
If anyone else notices any other Posts / PM's that have disappeared today or in the following days, please let us know (via this thread).
So far, I've got up about 7 (5 posts detailed here, and a couple of PMs)
All I can do is apologise on behalf of the Forum for any inconvenience.
Kindest Regards,
Matt

Sorry about that little hic-up there guys. The server host made a few changes but omitted to tell any of us dumb users about it so it meant that the time structure of the forum went to pot. Hopefully everything should be ok now and all the posts belong where they should be.

Nick , it is doing it again, the forum is showing (on my page anyway) the time at an hour earlier than what it actually is. Bunnie

Bunnie> You're spoiled. My time never shows what time it is over here in "Americaland". I thought it had to do with what time you set personally, so I just figured whatever time I set I must have set it wrong. But, seriously, folks, I would think there's no way to coordinate the time when you have this forum based in the great old UK. Andi> I saw your post that dissappeared, before it was lost. Great post. I loved the table full of flowers, too. I should respond to your missing post in the forum you posted it in. *hugs*

Sure there is, Blue Sky. Go to your profile and click Look and Layout Preferences in the nav bar on the left. In the Time Offset box, key in the number of hours + or - your time zone differs from GMT. For me in the Eastern Standard Time zone, that's -4. totalfolly

Hey, Totalfolly> Everytime I scan my disc to correct errors, and agree to delete forms, I think my time is reset on here. I know I have to sign back in when I do that, too. I'll keep re-setting it, but thanks, totalfolly. I know what you mean, and I did just reset it, so it's good for now, again. I just figured it it kept resetting to European time so, whatever time it says is fine with me. I _guess_ it automatically reverts to European time as a default?

On my look and layout it is set at forum default, but the time is wrong, still showing 1 hour behind GMT. Does that mean that I am seeing the users and the posts from 1 hour ago? If it is set at forum default my time should be correct, but I'm more concerned that maybe the people I am seeing at present on the forum, were actually on an hour ago. Bunnie

I could be wrong, but I thought Eastern Time was 5 hours behind GMT. This being the case, and since I have an offset of +1 at the moment, it would suggest that the the forum time is not GMT, as I thought it was. Although, Bunnie, I would think that the list of users etc. is correct, but the time stamps are all on Skincell time, which would appear to be GMT-1. Flicking quickly through a list of time zones, this would correspond to The Azores. Maybe the server has had enough for this year and gone on holiday.

Please bear with me on this. The server host keeps moving us from one server to another. Each server is set with different timezones and our forum uses those server timezone settings to work out what date and time is correct. Each time I adjust for the new server time we keep getting bounced to a different server and therefore the settings go all to pot again. I am now resetting the forum time to GMT which is where it should be.

Wow- thanks Matt and especially Nick for zeroing in on the problem. Please bear with me on this. The server host keeps moving us from one server to another. Each server is set with different timezones and our forum uses those server timezone settings to work out what date and time is correct. Each time I adjust for the new server time we keep getting bounced to a different server and therefore the settings go all to pot again. If the server host keeps moving us from one server to another, that explains why the standard time would reset to it's host servers standard time. It's really a lot to expect the Administrator to to keep up with changing the standard time constantly, as the server changes hosts. To me, that's just a lot of extra work on the clock. We could all just be responsible for resetting our own time zone when we notice it. But, that's just my opinion. Thanks for the explanations of what had been happening with disappearing posts. Andi- thanks so much for bringing this up, seriously, I questioned how I had read posts that were not there. Especially when I looked up the profile of the guy whose post had also dissappeared, the new user, Ben 1234. When I looked at the profile of a new user, his new profile, it had 2 posts for him. After the posts mysteriously dissappeared, His profile now says 1 post. So it somehow also erased something that the profile had previously tallied. I didn't think it would do that, but if it can change the standard time, it could deduct previously tallied posts. Very interesting, and great way to open up dialogue with analyzing what happened. Thank you, administrators, for being so quick to communicate. Good going.
