Dearest Hobb I read in your journal about your pet. I'm so sorry, and understand only too well how devastated you must feel. There's nothing more I can say but to offer you my sincere sympathy. Bunnie

{deep breath}
Didnt really expect to see this here, its abit weird...
Thanks Bunnie. Its been a huge shock - 3 wks ago i had 4, now i only have 2. 3days ago i had 3, seemingly healthy boys...
Im so worried bout how to tell my mum on Sunday. I expect thats when my floodgates wil open. As yet iv not burst into tears..
Bens brother Diesel has been looking around my room, abit panicky. I hope he'l be ok. Hes got Pete, but Ben was his biological brother, so they had a special closeness.
To cap it all, i cant sleep in my bed tonight. When i was dealing with bens body, i left the cage door open. I returned to my room to see Pete drinking Complan from a bowl that was on my bed (id brought it up to feed Ben..). he was only drinking the dregs tho coz he'd spilt the rest all over my bed. Looks like im on the sofa tonight...

Oh you poor thing you! I read about your other pet too of course just now. You loved them and treated them really well, and got the help when they needed it from a vet, you could do no more. I know it's hard. I refused a guide dog Hobb because I could not bear going through that loss again, it was awful. Thinking of you, Bunnie

thanks guys I wish i could just totally breakdown about it, but i cant. Im upset, but i cant really cry. I think im stil in shock over it. Iv woken up with a huge headache. Diesel & Pete are asleep - i can hear Diesel snoring When they wake up i guess il have to clean the cage. As much as i dont wanna eradicate his memory from the cage, I guess it'l confuse them, esp. Diesel, if they can stil smell him.. R

I'm sorry to read this, Hobbit. We lost two family guinea pigs in quick succession (within a very few weeks). They were sisters and you just know one was pining for the other so we know how your guys must be feeling. Don't really know what to suggest but cleaning the cage sounds like a good move to me - and of course giving Diesel and Pete lots of attention may help you as well as them? from me andyb

Thanks Andy When i lost Joe 3wks ago, i knew he was going to be with his brothers so i took some comfort from that. That, & the fact it was basically old age. But Ben.. Wel hes the 1st of these 3 to leave me, & ok, he was as old as Joe was, just he was stil running around my room on Tuesday.. I just hope Diesel & Pete dont pine for him to much - iv heard to many stories of ppl (& animals) dying of broken hearts - they just give up on life because that special companion isnt there any more.. My condolences, Hobb. Pets really are a part of the family. I lost a dog almost 7 years ago, and I still miss her. We even still keep a few pictures of her out around the house. Just know we're thinking of you.

My condolences on the loss of your pet, Hobb.
Are those pet rats? How long do they normally live?

They normally live between 2 & 3 yrs, tho normally closer to 2. 1 rat yr is about equivalent to 40 human yrs. Ben & Diesel turned 2 on September 1st, & Pete is a few months older than that. So i guess Ben did well.. Most of my rats have lived to be 4 tho, so im not really used to having them die so young.. 1 of ym boys, Harry, was 5 & a half, but of the last 3 i lost (before Ben), Murphy was 18months, Flynn was almost 2, & Joe was just past 2. I told my Mum & Dad this morning. I completely broke down as i was telling them..

I know this is kind of old but when I read this, I felt I had to reply and tell you I'm so sorry to hear of that. I'd be so upset if my cat or ferret passed away.
