Rightio - I joined the forum because I thought I might find someone else who has my skin, but having just done a quick search, I can't find anything as of yet. So I thought I'd leave a message on this here board and see what happens...

My name is Heather, and since about the age of 18 months, I have had a skin condition called Anetoderma (aka macular atrophy). This basically manifests itself as pitted squishy lumps on my skin where it has lost elasticity. On me, this is mainly on my arms and neck/chest. I don't know much about it, other than it's idiopathic and harmless.

When I was little and it started developing, my parents took me dermotologists to see if anything could be done. However, when the dermos asked if they could take little me to a conference for research, my parents stopped that! Since then, I have had no further contact, and don't really think about it too much - its just part of me.

Saying that, a few new lumps have developed recently (after about a 20 year absence!) and I have been thinking about it. Mainly wondering if there is anyone else out there with this condition and if there is, about their experiences. And that prompted me to join this forum. I apologise if this is not the right place, and if anyone can direct me to somewhere more suitable, I would be very grateful. Otherwise, it might just be nice to explore around here a bit and see what happens  Smiley

So there's a little story about me and my random motives! Hope that's ok. Merci buckets for reading! Hx

Hiya, brightsmoke, and welcome to SkinCell!

Your condition is a new one on me--I'm not sure if there are any other members here with it, so we may not be able to provide much in the way of answers.  Support, OTOH, we have lots of.  Hugs

Hi, Heather. Welcome to SC. I'm sorry that you haven't found anything on the forum, about your condition. Though, I'm sure some of us can sympathize, as we all have problems with our skin, even though different ones. Feel free to stick around and receive support and join in where ever you'd like. Perhaps, if you make a thread about that condition, someone online may come across it in a search and join. That is how I found the forum, I was browsing the internet, on the subject of my condition, and things about the condition on here popped up. Feel free to PM me, if you'd like a friend or would just like to talk, or need to vent to someone. Take care. Hugs

Welcome to the forum, Heather  Smiley

I too, have never heard of your condition, so I'm sorry I cannot be of more help, to you.  Having said that, there are lots of interesting tidbits on the forum, and you are welcome to stay for as long as you'd like.

Given it's been so long, it might be time to get another opinion from a good derm, Heather.  Don't settle for someone you don't feel confident in... not all doctors are created equal.
