Hey, well as you all know, I had a minisectomy, a month ago today, actually. I think that there was more damage done, than i had before. Before, i only had pain and swelling occassionaly, now it is constant. Last night at work, i almost colapsed twice. I was fine and then all of the sudden, i had a sharp pain that would go up my leg and down through my shin bone, then i lost all control of my knee. I caught myself before i fell. This has gone on a lot, along with my knee locking up.  I am scared tha he has done permenate damage t my knee. I was way better off with the original problem...

Try to stay on it Trish and make it stronger but making sure you are safe while doing it. That will make you less likely to fall  and protect your knee.

Sorry to read that Trish -- I hope it eases soon. My knee used to slip out of it's socket, or place, and I would immediately fall down.  Physio helped me, perhaps it could help you. Or maybe it just needs to heal up more.  I feel for you.

Jane is right, Trish.  If you haven't already started, you must look into finding a physiotherapist or exercise therapist who knows what they are doing!  The musculature of the entire leg is crucial for maintaining correct alignment and functioning of the knee.  Please please investigate this and DON'T let the doctor minimize the importance of proper strengthening, otherwise the problem with become worse over time - I can almost guarantee that.

Well it is still the same, i have an appointment for the 7th of aug, but she has put me on a cancellation list, as well. I will mention physio to him. A week my A**! The worse part is that i am experiencing pain and discomfort in places of the knee that never bothered me before. The original problem was on the outer side of my knee, now it is on the inner portion as well. The shouting pains are the worse though, fine one minute, the next a pain that could drop me to my knees in a heartbeat.

well i had my app. yesterday. I guess he found a great amount of osteoarthritis in my knee joint. He gave me celebrex to try for a month, wants me to start "aqua fitness" he said that walking is making my knee worse and will cause more damage. Obviously my job is a problem, i walk and stand on my feet 8 hours straight a night. He wants me to find something more sedentary. I applied for a job as a front desk clerk at a hotel nearby, at least with that i could sit periodically. I am only 30, i feel like i am 70. So far i take cholesterol pills, for my high cholesterol, estrogen, as i have no eggs left in my basket and am suffering through menopause, i was also informed that because of that i am prone to osteoporosis, now i have arthritis in my knee. I come home from work and am practically crawling through the door. My body is falling apart on me, i am scared to see what i will be like in another 20 years!

Trish, I am so sorry to read this, especially as you are so young. My mother had osteoarthritis and had aqua therapy in the early days. I was very young when I went through the menopause too (39), I think this may exascerbate osteo conditions , although it is more fluid retention in my legs now, with me.
I do know that you need to keep active as much as possible, but being on your feet for that lenghth of time is too long. I do hope you manage to get work which allows you to be seated for some of the time. I can only truly sympathise Trish.

I hope you get that, or something similar.  You are very young still and your current job is maybe exacerbating your symptoms and pain.  Guess I'm lucky I only have osteo in my back and fingers! Roll Eyes

Sorry to hear your news Trish. Some exercise is good for strength but 8 hours a day on your feet sounds like too much. I know they can replace knee joints but this is major surgery Undecided. Good luck with the job Crossed Fingers
