dry hands, cracks, cold...

hi

any good ideas how to avoid huge cracks on the joints on the hands when being outside in the cold? i keep on getting them, and it's about -30C celsius here, so if i get wet there seems to be nothing to do to avoid them. i'm tired of sewing them together when i come home after some days outside... live up in nowhere, over 1000km to a doctor/hospital
have probably ppp which doesn't make the sewing easier. any better methods? everything else tend to fall of quite quickly outside in the cold
