I am looking for the website that deals with the various forms of Phemphigus.   Anyone have that site address?  I'm still waiting to be diagnosed (4 biopsys and 4 derms--the last one admits he doesn't know but is determined to findout) but have a friend I graduated from college with who has a form of phemphigus and I want to alert him to the site. After they ruled out phemphigus for me, I vacated the site and would like to have it again. Thanks.   Mitch Itch.

Hi there! Here's a couple of links if they are of any help...
http://www.pemphigus.org/whatisgoid.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immune_system#Antigen_Presentation
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000883.htm
myself and the others on our thread all have Linear IGA which is a type of bullous pemphigoid as is the one I have Linear IGA Epidermoloysis Bullosa Aquisita.
What group or type of pemphigoid does your friend have? Bunnie

Thanks, Bunnie, he has Cicatricial, but has it pretty well under control with Dapsone.   Interestingly, my derm just prescribed Dapsone for me, cause he (nor 3 other derms) have the foggiest what I have.   So this is a test which so far (4 days) has produced no positive results.   Nor did Doxifen control the itch and burning.   So far Clobetasol and/or Halobetasol has been the only relief.     It has been thought to be Grover's, Pemphigus foliaceous, nummular dermatitis, etc etc, none of which have been confirmed through 4 biopsies including immunoflourescence tests against monkey esophagus and rat bladder.   mitch

The disease I have mimics cicatrical pemph.and manifests in exactly the same way.Mine is different only, to the other LIGA sufferers in that mine also affects a much deeper layer of the BMZ.  You   could have what we have Linear Iga disease. You can read from our thread how the biopsy  is done to get this LIGA result.Liga girl was diagnosed a few months ago and I have had this second outbreak since 1993. Your friend will already know how serious his disease is. Anyone who has a bullous disease can get it in the eyes like I did, and it totally blinded me. Again you would need to read the thread to learn all about it.
The immunoflouressence tests need to be done on your OWN skin biopsy along with another to determine whether it is LIGA or DH.It is Immunoelectron microscopy

Bunnie--I should have explained that I have no "lesions" on any mucous membranes.   I don't even have any breakout above the neck and never have.    Mine are spots that start burning prior to breaking out, turn into a variety of spots--sometimes one small red spot, sometimes a small "pimple" sometimes a cluster of "pimples", sometimes a rough red spot smaller than a dime, sometimes a spot doesn't result at all.    I may wake up in the morning with 10 or so on one leg or both, the next day it may be on one arm or both, sometimes on the back, usually not on the chest, often on the tops of my feet or around my ankles.   The burning starts about every 4 hours, never in the same place, as the one just 4 hours prior, except for the small of my back, one spot on my left butt check and the tops of my shoulders.  Often they are bilateral--if I get one on my left calf, more often than not there will be one on my right calf, this can occur anywhere on the body and there is often one in exactly the same spot on the other side of the body.    All biopsies have come back as inconclusive on any of the known derm issues.   The Dean at the Derm school is puzzled--says he has never seen anything like it and he thought he had "seen them all".   That is why he is testing various meds, one at a time.   Tongue
