My Eczema Killing Diet - Raw food!
« on: Friday September 22, 2006, 05:39:05 PM »
Hi folks!

That's right... I've finally taken the plunge...I'm going to have a raw food experience and see what my body turns into in a month on raw.

Fortunately, I know what I'm doing and will not lose weight on this as I'll be having 2 avocadoes a day and raw kefir with unpasteurised goat's milk.  The rest is fruit and veg...

Why?? I'm fed up of being sick and tired...My skin is terrible on face neck and arms and is almost raw...just because I went back to eating a thoroughly evil cooked diet.

So here goes...I can't afford both avocadoes and fish for the month...so I've just cut out fish...How simple's that?! :D :

Shopping List:

Avocadoes x 12
Cucumber
Spring Onions
Onions
Ginger
Marrow
Plantains x 6
Red Peppers
Lettuce
Cabbage

Fruit:

Lemons
Bananas
Apples
Watermelons
Grapefruit

Special stuff to combat the Candida

Wheatgrass
Superfood (Richard Schulze)
MSM powder

6 cartons of goat's milk until I get it from Graig's farm in Wales have to stick to Morrisons)

Sprouts to grow

Adzuki
Mung
Lentil
Puy Lentil
Chickpea

Seeds

Flax
Hemp
Sunflower
Pumpkin

Oils:

Coconut oil (extra virgin variety) for putting in smoothies and carrot cake

Carrot cake ingredients - low heat in oven 90 degrees enough to dry but not cook:

Jumbo oats (for grinding)
Apples
Raisins
Carrots
Ginger
Lemon juice and rind
Rye sprouts
Almonds and Pecan

Juice carrots and use the pulp as the meat of the cake
Followed by ground oatmeal
grind up everything until is a nice doughey consistency
Carob powder to taste

No need for honey

Put in oven overnight will taste delish!!

I've decided to go raw as I haven't had a relationship in 8 years due to this flippin E

Basically I've had enough!!  Even with eczema on my face and hands - people think I'm 25 even though I'm over 40.

So going raw will make me look like a teenager!! :-*

Any offers?!

Hi folks!!

Discovered £40 on my card...went food shopping fruit veg and yams

I made a lettuce avomelon which translates to:

1 dining tray covered in normal Iceberg lettuce leaves

Make big circle of cucumbers over the leaves.  Cucumbers are sliced mind

Alternate with red watermelon slices

In blender chop up avocado, lemon including rind and put in cashews with water (1/4 of a 500g bag)

Slice off sweetcorn with a knife, hold up straight and slice downwards with knife...sweetcorn should come off real easy.

Blend avo, lemon, sweetcorn and cashew in blender again until smooth - Creamey green consistency.

With a spoon get half the mixture and dollop over lettuce tray.  Decorate with more raw cashews...

I just ate this...WOW!!

Couldn't finish half the tray and I was actually full!  Hmmm...

The idea of eating from a tray is so I don't lose weight on my raw diet...if I just use a plate I'll lose weight

Making sure to eat lots of calorie dense veg and always have a layer of avocash on it...(My new word for avocado and cashew blend as above )

I'm thinking of doing a blog on and putting my before and after photos of eczema on it...Should be really interesting how I look in 2 weeks...

Hi guys and dolls!!

This is meant to be Day 3 and I've got a problem already...how do you eat raw when you've only got 1 hour for your lunch break and all your mates go to McDonalds etc??  I found myself preparing a raw salad, but my avocadoes weren't ripe so it was kinda lacking in the rich dressing department.

So I've had to compromise...Like this  3 days a week full time at school breakfast raw, supper raw...meals for lunch will be 2x at Kebabish and in the evenings back at home with raw...

The rest of the week all raw..

I also am waiting for my wheat sprouts to sprout so that I can make some Essene Bread to go with the avomayo dressing.

My juicer has also decided to pack up...all I did was take the screws out at the bottom to clean it.  Mum put them back as I couldn't undo it totally to clean...Now it doesn't work...

I'm still going to do this...Where there is a will there is a way... :-*

Guess what?  My friend Elizabeth rang me up this evening and told me she's had 2 dreams of me with my skin so nice she couldn't recognise me...Isn't that neat?

But seriously, I've noticed today after having my kebab fare and no water at school, my skin looked shrivelled and dry, so when I had an avosprout salad with mushrooms, my skin has filled out and the pores look smooth now.  That's just in one evening.  So I can understand that in a week of raw I'lll look and feel a lot better.

The probiotics and grapeseed extract must be doing its work as the face is not as itchy.

Think I'll try to have my bath 3 days from now so that the natural oils in my skin actually heal it instead of drying out with frequent bathing.  Did this before for 6 months and my legs healed up and it's been permanent...I need to act fast as my forearms are almost raw now..

Speak to you all soon... :-*

Hi LIGA,

Just reread your post....

This evening I had a face makeover with the following recipe...

1 large ripe Caribbean avocado (they're juicy when ripe)
A handful of spinach
Half a large cucumber
some red onion
Mung and puy lentil sprouts - 2 Cupfuls
Real lemon juice
Several large mushrooms sliced and placed on avosalad guacamole

Blend all ingredients except the mushrooms which are sliced thick and use them as mini slices to eat with the avosalad.

This was really filling and my face looked good 1 hour later...All wrinkles gone from forehead and pores smooth.

I tend to scratch a lot in the evening my face and neck...but this avomayo heals the damage fast...(don't scratch till I bleed).

I'm now going to use oatmeal soaked in water with a touch of Apple Cyder Vinegar to restore PH balance and cut the itch...Leave for a minute then rinse off face.

Speak to you soon LIGA

Hi Aqua

thanks for the recipe. Amazing that an hour after eating it you could see a difference in your face! Sounds like the diet will be worth it if you get those results so quickly. Pity you have to break it at school though.....Any more ideas I will be glad to hear

Hi Liga,

Yeah, you're so right...Good news is I've done the liver flush, so the eczema is clearing...

I did it this Thursday gone and my face was looking much better.  Got it bit worse on Saturday.  I did a mild flush where you mix 80z of citrus juices with 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 8oz of water... this morning with ginger and garlic.  My face looks better.

I slept all day today and its now evening.  My neck is soft and moisturised instead of parched and dry and I feel a lot better.  Didn't eat much except 3 bananas, water and some yam...

I plan to do another liver flush in 10 days time.  Think I'll keep going until skin is like a baby's...

Nearly there...

I applaud the idea of raw foods.  You guys might want to look in on the Kombucha, Kefir thread in General Health.  Home-brewed wine and Hard Cider are discussed as well.  Of course these things are not only raw.  They are alive!

Oh, and on the list of sprouts, don't forget the alfalfa and the clover sprouts.  It is my understanding that alfalfa has every vitamin and mineral known to humankind, perhaps with a few that haven't been identified yet.  And clover is, of course, a legume. Exceedingly nutritious.

Thanks Anthropositor,

Ever since the kitchen had a damp spot my alfalfa sprouts get fungus.  So...that's the end of alfalfa for now!  However, I really like my food raw now...it's really delicious.

Hi Aqua,
First time I've heard of alfalfa sprouts repeatedly getting a fungus.  If you are rinsing them several times a day and it is still occurring, try putting a bit of crushed vitamin C or a dash of vinegar in the water.  It won't take much.

Hi Liga girl,

My skin is looking a lot better these days with the liver flush etc... The diet is not going so swimmingly because it's winter!!  I'm having sprout mixes every day with my smoothie blends every morning and always have a salad a day....

This is my regime at the mo -

Before going to bed, put 1 teaspoon of argiletz green clay in a tall glass of spring water and leave overnight

The following morning, oil pull with VCO and do this for 10-20 mins

Brush teeth

Blend: Half a large avocado
         1 Mango
         1 Banana
         1 Golden Delicious apple
         1 stick of ginger
         2 cloves of garlic
Handful of sprout mix of mung, puy lentils and adzuki beans
         Add Richard Schulze's Superfood - 2 tablespoons
Squeeze some lemon juice into the blend to bring out the taste and keep the mix from turning brown
         1 tablespoon VCO

Blend until smooth consistency et voila!

Then a breakfast of porridge about half an hour later...

Acidophilus capsules - 2
Cod Liver oil
4 evening primrose oil capsules

I've been doing this for 5 days and my skin is looking very smooth on my face.

Bath regime

Blend oats into fine oatmeal - 1 cup
Honey 1 tablespoon
1 heaped tablespoon of Argiletz clay
1/3 cup of olive oil

Blend until a smooth paste

Smear real shea butter all over body and massage in

Step into bath and massage and scrub your body with the oat/clay/oil mix

Rinse off

Soak in lukewarm bath for 10-15 mins - bath contains more oatmeal and 1 tablespoon of honey and a cup of organic apple cider vinegar

After bath - Don't towel dry, just air dry and smooth shop bough coconut oil into your skin and go to bed

Wake up with soft smooth non-itchy skin!!

The terms that are puzzling to LIGA girl puzzle me as well, as does the diet mentioned by Andrew.  And are there some particular symptoms or circumstances that prompt the liver flush?  Not sure I understand the purpose or the mechanics of that.  And what are the considerations for those who might have liver problems like cirrhosis?

My rationale for experimenting with eating more live organisms in fermented drinks, yogurt, kefir, kombucha, and now homemade cheeses is perhaps just as vague.  But I am pretty watchful for untoward events like digestive upsets and so on.  So far I haven't experienced any adverse events but particularly now that I have begun making my own cheeses, I am still moving quite cautiously.  And I am reporting my own experiences with my own theories which are still in the formation stage.

Things like liver flushes and cathartic intestinal cleansings may have the potential for harm if used ill-advisedly, regardless of the enthusiasm of those on websites in the business of selling the products.  Good luck.

I can't help with the "oil pull" or the diet term, but VCO I believe refers to Virgin Coconut Oil

Perhaps overindulging a bit on seasonal fruits is worthwhile as well.  I have suddenly taken to eating two to four fresh pomegranates a day.  The bottom fell out of the price several days ago and I'm making up for lost time.  A couple of weeks ago I was eating a couple of avocados every day.  By a fluke, I got three 6 pound pineapples for six bucks.  It pained me to fry one of them up today, but I can't eat that much pineapple raw.  I fried it in half a tablespoon (a glurg) of coconut oil and a dash of sesame oil.  I added cinnamon until the pineapple chunks were hot but not quite browning.  Then the final move is to glaze with maple syrup, dark brown sugar, and half a glurg of balsamic vinegar and half a lime.  Excellent hot with rice or chilled with duck or chicken.  Sorry it's not raw, but I'll eat the other two raw.  For me, this is the only natural way to eat.  Not quite homeostasis.   And when blueberries hit the peak of their season, I intend to gorge on them for a while.
