Dear All

My husband, Tamer, has signed up to do the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Bike Ride on 18th June.
http://www.bhf.org.uk/events/index.asp?secondlevel=1005&thirdlevel=1015&artID=6150

In the UK this is Fathers Day so he is escaping from sacrificing his special day with the kids in order to do this ride for the sake of charity.

He has been on a bike about twice in the last 10 years so he needs all the encouragement he can get.

If anyone could spare a few pennies to sponsor him we would be very grateful. All donations go to the British Heart Foundation, which is a very worthy cause.

If you do wish to, you can sponsor him by visiting this link: http://www.bhf.org.uk/sponsor/tameremin/

Thank you very much

 Big Hug

Hi Woo

this is a really worthy cause - my workplace sent a team on a London to Brighton run a few years ago (for another charity) and they had great fun doing it too.

Well done to your Hub for doing this.

Best wishes with this and good luck to Tamer too!

I agree with you Ian. You can get some really unattractive cycling shorts that have padding in though... I think he may get some of those... poor thing has to work the day after the mega bike ride and I can't even imagine him being able to walk, let alone sit at a computer desk all day.  LOL.  The things you do because a friend says "do you want to be on our team"...   Undecided seemed like a good idea at the time. And now he's kind of obliged to go through with it because kind people have had their arms twisted by yours truly and are sponsoring him. That's got to be the best encouragement ever!!!

Heh heh  Cheesy - I tried on a pair of those once and they made me walk like John Wayne after getting off his horse.. apparently the padding had slipped in the wrong place  Wink  In the end I settled for one of those gel seat covers you can put on the saddle instead - a lot cheaper too...

Great to see Tamer's sponsorship is taking off too... Thumbs up

LOL andyb

I can't believe all the sponsorship if I am honest, I was hoping to raise about 20 pounds for him. I don't think he's sent the link to anyone himself and I'm trying to get him motivated but ...  Undecided  we shall see.

I just want him to be fit enough so he doesn't really hurt himself on the day.

...you could always follow him in the car as a sort of support team and leap to his aid if he flags or comes a cropper...

Thanks Roni that's really kind of you!
Will bring the paper form. A few people have preferred to sponsor him offline.

 Hugs

I am really pleased to say that my parents have said they will have the children on the day so I can go down and collect the remains of DH from Brighton. I expect he will be a crumpled heap the following day though. I'm actually quite concerned about it as I think he is expecting to just turn up and do the bike ride like he did 15+ years ago...(when he was about 18 and cycled everywhere all the time). I will try and get him out on his bike today.

Laughing Out Loud  Woo, nagging never works anyway.  Hope he's not too ragged when the ride is over!  Hugs

Good for him.  How far is the ride?  Just remind him that the first step off the cycle is the hardest.  Smiley
