Let me first say this is a great forum and a great comfort.

Right, where do I start!!

Male, 40, white (with red bits)

I get the dry skin behind the ears, on my head and eyebrows but normally when I'm stressed. I use Betacap which clears this up lovely. I also get the armpit thing and Eumavate or Hydrocortisone will clear this within days.

A couple of years ago on holiday sunbathing I noticed quite a few block hair ducts around my waistline, my wife had great fun for half hour or so freeing the imprisoned hair! A few days later they became red and itchy, over the coming months I progressed these to a good 50 pence piece sized pastime as the scale type covering was delicious to peel off. A year later and bored with disfiguring myself I stopped picking (not an easy thing to do as we all know) to my surprise it was happy to stay and even had the cheek to spread! Now at waist, tail and some nice bottom spots my wife forced me to see the doctor. Like a pet the last time I saw the doc was for a vasectomy. After dragging myself in, I sat with the sick people for a couple of hours and at 2pm my doctor was ready for my 12 O'clock appointment! (I also learnt rumours that the dragons and witches my wife called receptionist were true) Doc said he didn't like the look of the patches I had around my waist and we both agreed I need to see the derm.
What a bitch!! Made the doctors receptionist look like angels, you have psoriasis live with it and gave me a leaflet!
Completely naked, she did ask her trainee to take a sample of one of my toenails as they are built like shovels. I left depressed as hell, live with itdepressing.

I'm a big brave man and built well I cried!

A week later I got a reply saying the nail it was fungal, I was overjoyed. Strange to think you would be happy to have a fungal infection and hoped for Tina Corporis! 9 months later after taking lamisil my big toenails were alright (best I can say, they were never sexy in the first place!) Toenails 1 bottom and waist 0.

Creams, lotions and potions later I have been rewarded with elephant knees! I haven't tried most medications listed on this site as I am still treated as NHS cheap (I live in the UK and that's our health service for anyone that didn't know)

When I see the GP he just asks what I would like! I find creams that work and once I have ask for more they stop! Joking apart this does put a strain on my home/peronal life, my wife and I have been together for years and years (first went together when we were 13) and she is very understanding but I am NOT.

Well that's me.

Matt.

Best wishes to you all and may all are red bit be small.

Many thanks to everyone that has made this forum, your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi there Matt,

Welcome to our SC cyber family. Smiley

Sorry to hear you've had so much of a pain getting your diagnosis and the way you were told...... what is it with some of these doctors and derms, did they have their human compassion chip removed on graduation? Doooh!

I'm lucky I suppose Shakes head in that my P is actually PPP hands and feet only, but one other thing we have in common is that the creams, ointments, potions and lotions only help me for a few weeks at a time too then I need to go onto the next. In my case I was lucky enough to have a really good and understanding derm when first diagnosed (he move on long ago), and we tried an experiment....... I use a cream etc for 7 - 10 days only then move onto another..... Believe it or not it works well for me and has done for several years now. I only have 2 creams and 2 ointments and I rotate them when having a flare and usually get some sort of control back within a few weeks. I also use a prescribed moisturiser daily too and even use it under cling film for a couple of hours when I feel a flare starting or coming down from one. It might be worth a try to see if it works for you. Undecided

Any way, looking forward to reading more of your posts all around our boards.

 Hi there

Welcome to Skincell, Matt!

So when do you expect to see a derm?  I hope you don't have too long to wait but if it as a NHS derm then my guess would be anything from 6 months to a year...

Gobe,

I have seen the derm (that was the bitch mentioned) funny enough I didn't have to wait long and it was quick and harsh!

This forum kicks the a*** ( Shocked Ed Bot! Lips Sealed ) off my GP and derm!

Hi Matt!! Welcome to SkinCell!!

Yes, this site does kick A**!! Loved your storytelling style hope you post again! Good luck on your search for relief from your rashes. Have you checked out whether your rash may be fungal like your toe? Maybe something got in when you were getting out your ingrown hairs? Just a thought, at one point the derm thought that my son's P was maybe a fungal infection because he also had the mucky nails.

Hi Matt, welcome to the forum sorry I'm late in saying Hi but I've had pleurisy and felt rotten, I also agree this site is awesome and I have had excellent advice and just a shoulder to cry on many times here, which is just the extra treatment you don't get from the nhs.
