Thank's y'all.  Smiley

How long did that take you?

Roughly 30 hours, not including creating the pattern.  I keep forgetting to include pattern time in my overall figuring.  Maybe another 5 hours for working on the pattern.

What do you charge for something like that?

They're all different, Ryan, based on size, complexity, and time spent.  This piece is a little more than 2.5 square feet and took something like 35 hours of work, including creating an original pattern.  I forget how many pieces it has (I have it written down somewhere--I know it's over 100, maybe over 150), some of which are tiny and some of which aren't.  I probably spent between $75 and $100 just on materials.  Grin  What do you think that would be worth?

How on earth did you get started in this art?  is it hard? can anyone do it? so you buy the glass or make it yourself?  How do you get the pictures do you sketch it first?

My friend would probably pay about £300.00 for that.  Sam just loves tigers and has a huge collection of paintings and drawings.

Do people commission you for these?

Thank you!  *blush*

How on earth did you get started in this art?  is it hard? can anyone do it? so you buy the glass or make it yourself?  How do you get the pictures do you sketch it first?

I took a class.  It was something I saw in the adult education section of the local college's catalog, and it sounded like fun.  Once I started the class, I was hooked.  The owner of the studio where I took the class offers workshops two days a week, and I seldom miss a workshop.  No it isn't hard and anyone with the interest can do it.  You buy the glass--it comes in loads of colors and textures.  Smiley  Selecting the glass is the hardest part for me.

The patterns...there are lots of pattern books available, and I've done many from existing patterns, but my favorite thing is to create my own patterns from photos of my own.  I created this pattern from a photo I found online, and that's not as difficult as you'd think it might be, either.

My friend would probably pay about £300.00 for that. Sam just loves tigers and has a huge collection of paintings and drawings.

Do people commission you for these?

I've been commissioned for a few items but nothing particularly large like this.  The Betty Boop box was a commission, and some suncatchers (which I think I didn't include on this thread) were commissioned.  I may have a commission coming up--a friend who likes the cartoon character Foghorn Leghorn has asked me if I could do a piece for him.  He's deciding what pose he wants.  Smiley

My other piece of news is that I just bought a glass kiln so I can do fusing and slumping.  Grin  I haven't used it yet--need a safe place to operate it, but I'm aching to fire it up!

There's a third side, but I didn't photograph it--it has little detail.  And the colors don't show up well in the pic--it's very striking in real life.  Grin

*chuckle*  You guys!  Hugs  Thank you for your kind words.  Smiley

I have news!  I have my first big commission!  Grin  A friend who visited a few months ago asked me to do a tabletop for her mother.  I'm all excited!  Bounce
