As a mark of respect for the victims and the families of the London bombing the forum will be placed in to "Maintenance Mode" for a period of two minutes at 12 noon London time today.

I was lucky because I didnt know about it, but I was on the only bus in the depot with a radio on.  I was already on meal break, so I got out of the bus and stood for the silence on the kerbside.

candle for all the victims.

We got stuck in the traffic into the city. But where we stopped was a good place to be. It was cool and in shade. Surrounded by shops and people of all nationalities. Everything stopped. Everyone stopped. Sad, desperately sad.

I was quite moved by what I saw today during the silence.

It was exactly that ... total silence

Cars stopped in the roads and turned off their engines, machinery stopped in the Printers across the road, the builders working on our office downed tool, even the phones went deathly quiet. Myself and others went outside and took a moment to reflect on what had happened and the victims involved.

I couldn't help but think too of the citizens of the USA who suffered on 9-11, of the Spanish bombing, the constant attacks in the Middle East, The Bali bombing - so many people ! so much suffering ! so much bloodshed.

- I ought to add we stopped once we'd parked and were hurrying to the city centre not to miss 12 noon. But we were in a large shopping centre, very busy. And then silence. Indescribable. It makes me want to cry now, and there were few dry eyes. All colours. All faiths, old and young. Neighbours, neighbours.

You know, the one thing that has touched me the most?

I look around on this forum and I see so many members of different nationalities, from various different cultures, from all social backgrounds honouring those who suffered in London by either flying the Union Jack or by showing the black ribbon.

I am touched and deeply humbled to see such a warn and caring declaration of solidarity and brother/sisterhood on the part of so many kind and considerate people.

Kudos !

I was meant to pick my DD up from nursery at 12, so I got there a bit early. The radio station I was listening to in the car honoured the 2 minute silence. I said to DD (who is 2 and 3/4) "we have to be quiet for 2 minutes when the music stops". She is such a little chatterbox but even she went quiet.
