A couple I came across which I liked

What are those ugly scales you have on your knees?
Have you been scalded or bitten by some fleas?
I looked up in amazement, my poor eyes filled with tears.
My dear, I have psoriasis and I have had it for years.

Psoriasis is a skin condition as everyone should know.
These ugly scales usually cover us from head to toe.
When we wake up in the morning with scales on the floor.
They itch so much we scratch them and make them really sore.

Now if you have psoriasis or plaques upon your skin, do not
be embarrassesd for it's no shame or sin.
I advise you see a Dermatologist - who will offer you some help.
To heal those ugly patches you have on your scalp.

Now in ending this my story, there is something i must relate -
Don't sit around and hesitate - do something before it's too late.
There are tars and PUVA treatment and even Ultra violet Ray.
To heal the itch and heal the plaque - so go and do it TODAY...

Psoriasis is a problem
as you can plainly see,
And it could come on anyone
just as it did me.

The doctors tried to help
to clear it off my skin,
But it just keeps coming back
again, and again.

When I first got psoriasis,
I was just a kid,
And I used to blame myself.
I thought it was something that I did.
Because you see I did not know
When I was so young,
That there were other people too,
I was not the only one.

If only I had someone with
whom to talk,
It wouldn't hurt so much
When people pulled away from me.
And they would not touch
Even though I told them,
They would not try to see
That what I had, they could not catch from me.

And then they started to be cruel
To call me awful names,
They did not see the pain they caused
When they played their little games.

But now there is a place to go
Where others have been throught
And no longer feel so alone
Nor do I feel the shame of this I am sure,
That one day in the future
I know there will be a cure.

But until that day gets here
Who else will go through this,
Just because they have a disease
That is Psoriasis.

 Hi there

Well I just had to post the lyrics from the 'HS Blues' here, please dont read if easily offended.

Full credit to our Alan, full hilarious but close to the bone site found here http://mysite.freeserve.com/hs_sucks/index.htm

HS BLUES
I woke up this mornin, my bed was in a mess
I'm bleeding and a squirting, no way that I can get dress
The pus it is a-rising, the stench it is unique
The doctor says don't worry boy, your future's f***ing bleak
I got those
Deep throbbin' purple headed, oozin an a seepin blues
Yes those Hidra-deni-tis Supper-ativa-blues
They're dripping again!

So I go to the bathroom, to get all cleaned up again
I pass out on the landing from the excruciating pain
Splashing tea-tree-oil all over, using bog-roll up in wads
Now I can set of to work, wearing sanitary pads

I got those
Deep throbbin' purple headed, oozin an a seepin blues
Yes those Hidra-deni-tis Supper-ativa-blues
They're dripping again

The throbbing is too painful, the bleeding too profound
I cannot face the world today, so I turn the car around
I then go back to bed and drop a load of pills again
Co-codomol and solpadol, they help me with the pain

My sleep's disturbed by nightmares, dark and very strange
In which I kill my doctor, which makes a pleasant change
My life is going no-where, I am always in a mess
Cos I been cursed with a demon, that thing they call HS

I got those
Deep throbbin' purple headed, oozin an a seepin blues
Yes those Hidra-deni-tis Supper-ativa-blues
They're dripping again

Alan We love you !!  Grin

Hi guys!

This is brilliant - I posted my poem because sometimes I just want to express and share how it FEELS to have a skin condition.  I am also intensely curious about how others experience their skin conditions so I'm really excited to see other poems posted here.

~ Fishs -  yes I wrote it...

~ Peter -  thanks for posting ...

~ Celery - graphic but compelling...

~ Mon and Celery - thx for the hugs and xxx's...

I hope you do Andy!

Sometimes writing poetry helps release and express emotions that otherwise might be diffficult to talk about.  I mean I was aware that when I posted my poem that it revealed a lot about how I deal with my skin sometimes.  But that's OK - that's what this forum is about. Smiley

 Hi there

Ok Gobe .. Here is just a little poem I did for celery once  here somewhere when she posted a nice  picture  so I thought I would put it here for you as part of my deal..   ROFL

Looking west under the darkening sky
As the sun sets far away
The stars are yet to show their light
This is the end to another day

The clouds high above stir in the light
Show colours that leave one in awe
They paint a picture in ones mind
That stays until the next days dawn

The mind is filled with these images
That inspire  and make us write
These fanciful things do give us peace
As we drift from day into night

Fish ..

I will do a couple more  shortly ..I gotta find my book i put them all in   Huh
