Thanks Bunnie! I never thought the rythm was quite right in that particular poem, but it's at least more positive than a lot of the others. Um, let's see........here's another:

What is there to do when there
are no tears left to cry
I don't want to live this way.

I sense the uncertainty, I see
the fear in your eye
But all I want is your arms around me.

Sometimes you get angry and
I don't know why
I only want you to love me.

Sometimes I want to pretend we're happy
but I don't want to live a lie
Maybe truth is only what we imagine.

At night, in bed, I wish I could cry
but I don't want you to hear me
I don't want to burden you with my tears.

I don't know who we are and I quickly
forget who we used to be
I only know that I still love you.

What about you, Bunnie? Do you have any more? I like your poetry so much better than mine. Yours has a sort of...I don't know...fairytale quality about it that I love. It makes we want to be there in the poems. I love it!

That must have been wonderful for your son to grow up hearing such stories! I purchased a book several years ago that contained photographs and stories about different types of fairies. The photographs were claimed to be authentic or at least based upon actual fairy sitings (not sure I believe that), but they were absolutely gorgeous! And just...magical! I loved that book! But sadly, since moving this past May, I can't find it  Cry .

Another wonderful poem and picture, Bunnie! I visited the link you posted. It was not actually the book I was referring to, but it was fascinating! Thank you for posting it. I think I'd like to see the film. It's a shame that one can no longer visit the location where the girls claimed to see the fairies. It's beautiful!
It did motivate me to search the internet for the book I owned, and I found it on amazon.com. The title of the book is The Fairies: A Field Guide Photographic and Textual Evidence of the Existence of Another World by Suza Scalora. It's a fairly recent book (published in 1999, which is the year I bought it, I believe). Are you familiar with the book?

Great, Bunnie! I hope you'll love it as much as I did! And if you have more poems about fairies, I'd love to hear them! Or more poems on any subject for that matter. Smiley

Goodness - 5 bob (shillings) was a LOT of money in 1953 bunnie! Shocked

I only got 2 shillings pocket money when I turned 10. Actually, my pocket money was index-linked to the price of an Airfix series one model aircraft kit. I used to buy one a week (if I wanted a larger series two or three etc kit I had to save up over a number of weeks) and eventually had over 100 hanging from the bedroom ceiling. I remember the day Mum and Dad wanted to redecorate the room and they were all taken down - not one went back up again - I came home from school one day to find them piled in the garden - my much younger brother had been trying to 'fly' them out of the bedroom window  Cry  I think he was three at the time and he very nearly didn't make it to four  Evil Laugh

Bunnie, that poem really shows how much you treasure your childhood memories. The part about your father brought tears to my eyes  Cry.

Thanks, Bunnie. It's actually my daughter, but that's ok--it's hard to tell with babies unless they're wearing something obviously pink or blue.  Smiley
