greetings everyone.i'm new here
firstly, take a look at this picture of sides of my nose

http://www.geocities.com/siewhong87/index2.html?1087390981250

let me put you through my journey to battle with this disease:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. I went to see a renowned dermatologist. She says i am infected with psoriosis. She gave me a tar-based shampoo and some oilments which she asked me to apply on the sides of my nose.I applied the medications for 5 months. No improvement was seen.

2. The next dermatologist I appointed said that I have Seborrheic Dermatitis. He treated me with some cream again.I have tried several 'types' of creams for a period of 6 months. The redness is still there.Nothing changed.
Then he prescribed me with Acutane.I consumed the drug for 4 months.Nothing happened except my lips cracked and bleeded.

3. A friend of mine suggested Elidel(Pimecrolimus). The redness is still there after applying it for 2 months.Next i tried Nizoral cream for 3 months.Again, the redness is still there!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
please give your advise, suggestions, opinions or just anything!!just post something!!thank you..

Can't tell much from that picture, but I'm not a dermatologist anyway.  What did the first derm say when you went back to her and told her the treatment wasn't helping?  For these types of skin conditions, diagnosis is more of an art than a science.  The important thing is finding an effective treatment.

And isn't Elidel a prescription drug?  You got it based on your friend's advice?  I don't understand.

Anyway, I wouldn't call it a 'rare skin disease' just yet.

Elidel isn't a prescription drug in my country(Malaysia). I just have to walk into the pharmacy and purchase it over-the-counter.

The dermatologists will always say "It will go away.I'll give you another cream to try". Well I tried about 8 types of 'creams' which i do not know what it is.

I know it's frustrating, man, but a dermatologist should be able to help you much more than people here randomly trying to guess what you have.  If it's eczema or psoriasis then those can be very stubborn.  It's not always possible to just 'fix' it.  If you doubt the dermatologist's diagnosis, then I would go back and make them rule out ALL other possibilities.  It could be something fungal, for instance, but the dermatologist can rule that out with a microscopic examination of some of your skin.  It could be bacterial, did they culture it for staph?

If you know for sure what it is then people here can offer some concrete advice on what to do about it.

Try using a sunblock to see if it improves - it may be uva or uvb sensitive - you  can apply it over whatever prescription meds you are using

::)Hey Victor, what your looking for is an answer to the question "What is this?!", but unfortunately we are often given the answer to another question "How do I make this go away?!". This I learned through years of the same runaround and finally figured out how the heck do you make it better if you do not know what it is! Needless to say why does'nt a doctor tell us this.....
One thing is I would recomend getting a surface skin culture, a good dermatologist should agree or satisfy your wishes at the most. From looking at the picture it looks systematic, not just a surface condition, so you might have to do a deeper skin test but I would not settle for repetitive cream and eyeball exams anymore. More than often these treatments cause unwanted side effects, as you have already experienced!
  Goodluck! Smiley
