Hi All!! New to room. Have been reading about treatments. I am 33 years old and have had disease for 11 years. My mother has had it for almost 25 years. We have done lots of research and seen many MD's. I was told to stay out of the sun at first but have over time learned the outbreaks are caused by sweating. I sit with my legs crossed...right over left mostly...left leg is always worse. Have vehicles with leather seats shoulders and upper back always worse. Sleep on left side...left bicep always broken out. coincidence..no way. Have tried all treatments...no help. The only thing that has been proven tried and true to help both of us is to take showers at least twice a day. Right when we wake and anytime we sweat. UVB rays from tanning beds have kept outbreaks flat. Hydrocortisone in winter is wonderful!! Any suggestions from anyone else who has not had any luck with RX's. Mother and I both suffer from GERD and it has been suggested acid from inside excreted by sweat may play a part. We are on Meds but are still affected. Found out the hard ,painful ,itchy way sleeping in beds at hotels that use harsh detergents and lots of bleach will flare you up!! Mild detergents, soaps, and lotion help.

Hi,
You have lots of company here. If you go to page 2 on this site you will find another entry for grovers. It has lot's of info.
My derm. doc has recently given me a ointment called protopic. Which has worked fairly well, without the side effects of the hydrocortisone.
I find it interesting that you both suffer from GERD. I have had problems for years with indegestion, seams to be more stress indused than by food.
The sun damage theory makes alot of sense to me. As I have had too many sun burns, some quite bad. maybe the sun damage effects the sweat glans. I know for sure that sweating does make the grovers flair up. But I have never been one to sweat if I don't have to.
Check out the other site. I sure you will find it interesting.
Keep cool
